This book would be greatly served by some further editing. Not for typos/grammar, but to tighten up the story. There's a lot of unnecessary detail, telling instead of showing. And the secondary characters took up too much time. This is supposed to be Luke and Bell's story, all the other POV's were too distracting.
This was my first read by this author and I loved how I felt everything I mean EVERYTHING each person went thru and dealt with throughout this book.
The family bond was awesome and I loved how the parents stories were incorporated. I can't wait to read the 2nd book (which I just purchased!!)
This is NOT a cliffhanger (I hate cliffhangers!)
Great story you should definitely read it!!
This had the potential to be a great book. Instead to was overly long, had way to many (needless) characters, crappy suspense, and a predictable storyline.
The over use of 'mommy' and 'daddy' by the heroin was massively annoying to the point I wanted to throw my phone across the room. Every time she spoke to her parents she used these terms.
There is an inconsistency in how she thinks about her childhood. Part of the time she says that she was always pushed away and the other half she says that her brother was always with her watching out for her. Additionally the brothers personalities lack consistency.
But my biggest problem with the book is that the author seems to have tried to cram five books into one. It was just too much. If you want to write a book about old flings getting back together then write about that. If you want to write about a scared woman being stalked and her boyfriend protecting her than write about it. If you want to write about a woman's emotional recovery thanks in part to her gay best friend and his boyfriend than write about it. Dont shove them all together in a single book!!!
Luke was 24 when Bell seduced him and throw her away. And then hooked up with other woman and to get Bell off his mind even brought a girl to their families Christmas party and notice Bell not looking as good as before. When Bell comes back does he Finally notices her and wants to apologize for his attitude on that day. She has a secret that could destroy him that he will never see coming.
It's not really a second chance but more of a put it right. You will laugh, you'll cry with each new event that takes place. Each chapter has something that will make or break everyone. Told in many different point of views, Luke, Bellamy, all for sets of parents, each brother, Stacy, Mark, Travis, and Brad, there might be a few more but you'll have to keep a look out for the change. More gut be a standalone but with the other stories to take place, we might get more about all the happenings with the Carter's and the Carmichael's and all their friends.
