Kate has had some bad luck, not only in family but also in her career. She chose to move from her small town to the big city in order to get a fresh start in life. To find a little bit of happiness. She has a new job, still has her best friend Jen with her, but the last thing she expects is to meet a man that makes her feel things that she never thought was possible. A man that pushes her past all of her boundaries. But the thing is she does not know his name. All she knows him by is Sir. The only thing she really knows is that she wants him, but he does not want a relationship, only a little no strings attached fun. But can Kate change his mind?
Ben has been burnt in his love life after finding his fiancée cheating on him he vows to never give his heart to another woman. During this dark period he fund his saving grace in the form of Blue Velvet, a club that allows him to explore his dominant side. But when his friend drags him to a club for some fun one night all he thinks about is getting out of there until he literally gets run into by a stunning beauty that he stops from falling down the stairs. Little does he know this woman turns his world upside down, and makes him rethink everything that he thought he wants.
There are many twist throughout the book and it just drew me in more and more. I think the author done very well for this debut and I hope she bring out another book with the two best friends. Maybe we shall see.

STARTING OVER is the debut novel from Erin Cristofoli and overall it was a pretty good read. It was written well and was not plagued with spelling or punctuation errors that I occasionally see in debut novels. I liked both Kate and Ben as well as their two best friends, Jen and Liam, who make the occasional small appearances throughout the book.
However, I’m sad to say that I didn’t fall in love with this book. Despite being well written, the story didn’t engage me and I found myself taking a few days to finish it. Both Kate and Ben have had bad experiences involving the opposite sex, but I felt those experiences were skimmed over and we only saw the tip of the iceberg, which made it hard for me to relate to their problems. The sex scenes (and sometimes the dialogue between Kate and Ben) felt, for lack of a better word, mechanical. They didn’t feel natural and seemed to lack emotion and passion. Maybe they didn’t lack emotion or passion, but they certainly didn’t invoke those feelings in me.
STARTING OVER is told in dual POVs, does come with a HEA and does not end in a cliffhanger. While nothing currently indicates that this is part of a series, I got the impression there might be another book on the horizon, one perhaps involving Jen and Liam as I thought I detected a spark between the two, but only time will tell. Erin has done a very good job with her first novel and she should be very proud of her accomplishment.
Jen takes Kate out to have a good time and hopes that her friend hooks up and has a great night. They go to a Masquerade party where Kate meets a handsome stranger and is taken with him. Kate isn't looking for a relationship at this point and neither is the handsome stranger and tells her that. He typically doesn't see a woman more than once but can't get her out of his mind so he plans to get together with her again. Kate gives him her first name and he asks her to call him Sir. Every time after the first meet but don't reveal their identities because they wear masquerade masks.
Kate begins her new job and is attracted to her new boss Ben. He is very attracted to her as well and makes comments as such but Kate tells him she doesn't want to compromise the business/personal relationship. She wants to be able to keep her job and at the most be friends. He is also not the type of man looking to have a girlfriend and settle down after being screwed over by an ex girlfriend.
As Ben and Kate's friendship grows so does their feelings for each other but Kate is hooking up with Sir on different occasions and struggles between the two men.
I recommend you read this book to find out if Ben can get Kate to move past just being friends because his heart is starting to open up to her. How does Kate feel about Ben and will they get together? What about Sir does he end things with Kate because he doesn't do the relationship thing or do they end up together? Does anyone end up with a partner or do they end up alone? It is a really good story that you should definitely read.

Ben was hot and sexy as hell! Kate is a bit shy, but not some helpless virgin like in most books.Read more
