I DONT KNOW.
But it is, and it works. I'm down roughly 25 pounds but that's not even the best part. The best part is that it helped change something inside my brain about how I look at food. I used to eat junk food every. single. night. and day, but mostly at night.
You obviously have to WANT to have better eating habits for this to stick with you, but if you are like me and confused by the food industry, this is so helpful. I always was so confused, some health professionals would say eat eggs! Then other ones would say only whites! And then others would say eat the yolks! Then no yolks because they have cholesterol! So confusing wondering who to believe!
This book explains it all. Explains the why's and the how's. Is doing the Whole30 hard? YEP. Sure is. My husband started it and didn't finish it but that's because I drug him unwillingly along. This lifestyle is only going to work if YOU want it.
My husband said to me yesterday that he's really impressed with my willpower over food now. Do I still snack or eat "bad" things? Yes! But I don't binge and for the most part, stick to Whole30 eating. I make more healthful food choices.
Oh and my skin is radiant from it! I have never gotten so many comments about my skin that I have as when I finished my Whole30!
Oh and by the way, the sugar dragon is REAL. Honestly that's the hardest part is breaking your sugar addiction. Once you do that, eating is so much simpler!
I had AFib for 14 years. Episodes that would happen 2X a week and last from 4 hours to 4 days.
I could not function. I lost clients. I was 401LBS when a friend told me about the Whole30 and I bought this book.
Best thing I could have ever done. It’s so easy to follow. Only the 1st 6 days were tough. After that it was so easy. I’m 9 months in and I am never stopping.
Right now I am 311 and I have not had AFib for 8 months and 3 weeks.
I’m 49 and I feel like I’m 30 again. When I was 18 I was 225 and that’s my goal.
We have completely changed how we eat after doing our first Whole 30 and it changed our life. Former indulgence food doesn’t even taste good anymore. My husband loves winter squash and vegetables now! That’s a feat in itself! We have eaten primarily W30 for almost two years now, meaning we go out and don’t worry about what we eat, and do have drinks a few times a week - but the groceries we buy and meals we cook are are W30, and by choice, because we just love it. We’re not “on a special diet,” we changed our food lifestyle.
Then my wife started talking about this book. My first reaction - "THERE IS NO WAY I AM GIVING UP GRAINS AND SUGAR! - A PERSON CAN'T LIVE LIKE THAT!"
Another week or so went by AND i WAS NO BETTER. I decided to purchase the book (Kindle version) and started reading. What the authors were saying made sense - as much as my mind could make sense of it. So I thought - I can try it - its only 30 days.
Today I am on Day 20 and here is what I have noticed:
1. THe 1st 2-4 days were rough - I think I was actually detoxing / going through sugar Withdrawals. Not kidding - I honestly felt horrible. Not just hungry but fidgety, hungry, restless, irritable...
2. Days 5-7 the sugar / carb cravings were fading and my desire to snack every two hours was hardly noticeable. Still somewhat tired and not sleeping too well. My morning runs felt horrible - thought I was dying - OK - kidding. But I felt no MOJO. My times were getting worse. I figured this was probably normal SO I kept focused on my 30 day goal. Although, at this point I was convinced this was not going to work.
3. Into the 2nd week, I started noticing this feeling in the afternoon - I felt good / alert...not seeking my 5th cup of coffee. I would catch myself thinking throughout the day, "I feel pretty good."
So here I am on Day 20 - I have lost a belt size and my clothes are fitting differently (I started at 194lbs) and I am back to getting up at 5:30 for the gym or running everyday. I am sleeping better, haven't eaten a Rolaid all month, not craving sugar, and I am eating things I never ate before and just feel overall better.
Note: My whole family is doing this together and everyone one is looking slimmer. My 12 year old daughter had some mac and cheese the other day with some friends (her favorite meal) and was "totally grossed out" by it.
In a nutshell (because I normally don't write long reviews - if at all), this has been a great experience. I am amazed at the differences I am feeling in my body. I'm sure there will be ebbs and flows but I plan on incorporating this into my daily life even after the the 30 days.
Suggestion: If you are addicted to sugar like I was, give yourself a month to prepare your mind. That is what I did. I set a start date and wrapped my mind around it - then I took the leap. Glad I did.
