I'm really enjoying playing this game with friends, but most of the fun in this game is what you make of it. Going on supply runs or achieving personal goals. The reason I say this is because the game itself doesn't have much in the way of goals or quests. There are a few quests which are very easy to complete and competent players can beat all of the missions without even fully exploring the map or having the best base with all of the facilities unlocked.
The problem is once you complete the final mission in the area that you're in, it moves you on to a new area and shuts you out of that community you built entirely. I wish there was a way to complete the mission and still revisit or continue to survive in a community that you had already built up.
There are a lot of glitches in this game. Nothing game breaking but some are very frustrating:
Passing through zombies with dodge move
Various visual glitches where weapons are see through for a moment or flash light is spotty
Problems connecting to friends or vice versa
Randomly getting kicked from a friends online game
Holding the door open in vehicles only works sometimes for passengers
A few others I can't think of right this minute
The great thing about this game is the price. I wouldn't be too happy about paying much more for it but at $30 this is a great zombie survival sandbox whose quirks and mishaps can be over looked. Hopefully they'll continue to update and improve the game. I really wish it had better mod supports (like a steam release with workshop support would have been amazing) as that's where sandbox games really tend to get the most value. I'm sure there will still be mods and such as the devs said they don't plan to stop or block that sort of thing, they just aren't going out of their way to make it easier on the community.
I don't see myself playing this much solo, so if you don't have any friends to play with I wouldn't bother picking this one up. It is cross platform play so you can play on PC with Xbox friends and vice versa, which does work (I've tested it). It'll be fun to revisit from time to time with a group of buddies and who knows maybe the modding community will really step this game up and put it to its full potential.
