I am not as enthusiastic over this book as so many of the other reviewers, perhaps because I am older than they. While the book is well-written (also well-formatted and a Kindle freebie), I could not relate to the angst of what to me seemed to be an over-indulged, self-obsessed young college-graduate, touring the country to find himself, seeing very little but writing daily blogs about it [SPOILER ALERT], treating his long-suffering girlfriend with disdain and dumping her over the telephone, and finally moving to LA to become a writer (where he still acts like an immature undergrad)--as if, by this point, we still care. At least that's how this seems to someone of an earlier generation whose view of life, inter-personal relationships, and the work ethic are obviously different from this gentleman's. And apart from his search for self and his desire to find his place in this world (as must we all), the book is unsatisfying as a travelogue and is hardly exemplary as anything else. I did not care for it. [UPDATE: Since I wrote the above I notice it is no longer free. I would certainly not recommend paying ten dollars for it.]

I love reading an author's first book because it's always so fresh and novel. This book was certainly that. It's a hysterical blend of back-road America and a young man finding direction after graduating from college. I'm sure we all felt a bit lost as graduation approached, and this book gives a humorous perspective that everyone can relate to. Therefore, it makes a perfect present for anyone graduating this spring or summer.
I bought it for the student I mentor and he loved it, so I had to order a bunch more for his friends. A very uplifting story.

Highly recommend this book! Touching and hilarious, couldn't put it down. I got this as as gift for my brother who is graduating this year and he really liked it, and ended up getting a few copies for his classmates. The author does a great job of putting into words feelings so many of us have during that uncertain time in our life, and he does it with humor and vulnerability.

Great book!

This is a fantastic Summer read. We ride along as Paul Jury, a recent college graduate, drives systematically (yet aimlessly) around the lower 48 while trying to figure out this thing we all call life.

A book like this could easily be unreadable, especially from someone so....well, young. But Jury is a really good writer in that he describes perfectly what is going on in his head even when the reader knows he is fouling up. The inner dialouge is stellar, interesting and nicely-paced.

The angst felt by the author is typical for recent college graduates who have yet to fall into their careers. Made more difficult by a relationship with his girlfriend that he hasn't quite figured out, Jury is unabashedly honest to a fault. I can only imagine how the girlfriend felt reading the blog he updated as he drove on his madcap 48-state jaunt.

Jury encounters many frustrating events which turn into metaphors for learning examples: financial budgeting, relationship balancing, troubleshooting, time management and decision making. The books is chock full of humor and the author is skillful at making you feel as if you are riding shotgun on his enjoyable trip.

I won't ruin the final pages, but suffice to say that ultimately the author does finally make some long-delayed decisions. I recommend this book if you are looking for a low-key yet interesting adventure for a lazy weekend. As I said before, in the hands of a less-skilled writer this book could have been boring but I found myself pulling for the author to reach the goals he listed for himself prior to the drive.

This is an excellent book. It's almost like a coming-of-age story that whisks you from state to state with whimsical prose. Definitely an adventure. My favorite part is the evolution of the author. I know that he did not write it in real time although I do suspect that he took a lot of the chapters tones from his blog. Either way, you get to know the author. And you find yourself cheering for him and wishing his horn would stop. It's a good book. Buy it.

Paul Jury has written a strong and sensationally funny book. I honestly was not able to put it down and felt as if I were right there with him throughout. His descriptions are on point and often leaves the reader on the edge of the proverbial seat with suspense. He definitely reminds me of a real life Chris Pratt character, which for a comedic travelogue is awesome. Bravo! I have an immense amount of praise for Jury, however I cannot honestly bestow 5 stars. His stories are often short (New Jersey and Tennessee)and sometimes lack a sense of purpose (North Dakota). I would also have liked to see more thought devoted to describing the powerful scenery of Wyoming and the other northern states that he traversed. If you are down, do not hesitate in picking up this book. It will definitely be well worth your time.
