Easily one of my top 10 shows of all time, and may take the top spot with a rewatch. The 4k transfer here is flawless with fantastic DTS-HD 5.1 surround and a stunning 4k presentation. I wish more people were aware of this show.

    Ten episodes, exploring a number of intertwined sub-plots, with some time hopping (so you only learn what you need to know, when you need to know it). The sub-plots, individual characters' stories, could be so well developed in the ten episodes—much better than what is possible in a regular movie. More like a long novel, but with a great richness of vision. Compelling drama, characters you really cared about, tragedy and triumphant reunions that tested the limits of emotion. What can I say? I watched it a second time after the first, and wanted to then immediately watch it a third time (but decided I should re-watch another series first, just because). The third won't be the last by a long shot.

    I'm a fiction writer. This thing has no weaknesses.

    This is a review of the physical 4K UHD release of Station Eleven, NOT of the show (which is an absolutely brilliant adaptation of a terrific book and one of my all-time favorite shows). While the show is incredible, the physical release is not. Picture quality is stellar, as one would expect from a 4K UHD release, but there is not a single extra feature to be found, not even the post-episode featurettes seen on Max (née HBO). No commentary of the pilot, no behind the scenes interviews, no deleted scenes. I honestly cannot remember EVER seeing another physical release with no extras included. And to not even include the EXISTING featurettes? That's just lazy, HBO! The physical release feels like a rushed money grab, and it's no surprise that the price keeps plummeting an Amazon. I'm all for physical releases, but they need to be done right.

Mackenzie Davis is very effective in the lead, but she is slightly over-shadowed because everyone is so good. The first few episodes are a little tough to get through, not because they're bad, but they can be very emotionally raw.
    Highly recommended show and a BUY at full price!

Cannot safely open without two disks falling out as two disk are on the center sleeve that is falling out and the 3rd is on the back wall.
