When Luke saw her again he knew he was still in love with her. Even after ten years a love this strong wasn't extinguished but how could they put all the pieces back together? This is a touching love story but it also brings us into an abusive relationship. Why does someone stay in this kind of relationship? When it is your father how can you escape? This subject is dealt with with much sensitivity. It really is the core of Luke and Zoe's love story. She loves River Bend and at the same time she hates River Bend.
I cannot say more without spoilers just let me say you will be as riveted with this book as I was. Once I started it I just could not put it down. I am really looking forward to the next story, Jo's, in the Most Likely To series. All books in this series can be read as a standalone. This book really deserves ten stars!!!
Zoe is a character I admire. Like a phoenix she rose from the ashes of the nightmare she lived through as a child and followed her dream. That cost her a lot and she broke her own heart in the process but she did what she needed to do to survive. She thought she healed her broken heart. She thought she had everything she needed. Until she met Luke again... And Zoe saw all that was missing in her life.
Zoe and Luke's story is not easy, but it is romantic and tender and definitely hot. And it doesn't hurt that there is just enough danger, suspense and heartbreak to make it a page turner. And it ends in a way that will make you crave the next book in the series. And I am sure that's going to be a roller coaster ;) But for now, get your #1click finger working and pick up your copy of Staying for Good :)
This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog. I received an ARC of the book in exchange of an honest review.
I did like how the hero understood why the heroine had to leave him, how they communicated and there were no silly misunderstandings, and the cute moments they shared. But there was no real conflict between them, there was more telling than showing and I got bored pretty fast.
I'm sure this book will win many other romance readers (it already has) but it was not my cup of tea.
