Alana and Morgann were best friends from the time they were children, playing games and telling secrets. Both families believed they would marry and join the clans. A witch interferes and causes a clan dispute. Her actions may have ripped them apart, but the faeries have other plans. When the sidhe has a plan, mortals don’t stand a chance.
Morgann and Alana are meant for each other. There was immediate, intense, and magical chemistry between them. The faerie, Tèile, was a funny, pivotal character, though kept low key. I thought she was a great little addition to the classic historical romance and quite funny. It is likely there was a bit of faerie dust built into this story!
I read this book in a single sitting. Thank God for lazy, Sunday mornings. I absolutely loved this book and will be reading more of Ms. Holt’s available titles.
Then the wonderful twist takes place, some years have passed by and it Te'ile who has decided it is time for the two to be reunited. Te'ile, however is not a member of the clan, she is a faerie. She is written within the story weaving her magic to bring the two together and at times to use her magic to save their lives. It added a twist that could have otherwise have been a common, monotonous story. Morgann kidnaps Alana and the plan is to use her to stop the feuding. Alana makes several attempts to escape but with each failed attempt it draws the two closer together.
The ending of the story leaves off with Te'ile following the couple upstairs to have one last glance at her work. The little, green faerie is perched on the window sill when she receives her next assignment, another MacRae needs to find love. There are some pretty hot love scenes with in with a touch of erotic at times so if it's not your thing be warned. It is not over done and is done with taste. Thank you SH for the fresh twist.
But not if the Fae have any say in the matter, and they do.
Stubbornness and past hurts are no match for a determined faerie with fate on her side.
And though human hardheadedness is a trial the beacon of love shines clear and true through the darkness.
