A sweet love story wrapped in mystery and fantasy. Keira is a smart young woman with dreams of bettering her countries education system. Unfortunately in her time women are more property than people and she's being cared for by her con-artist cousin Brogan. Tired of being used by her cousin in his grafts, Keira decides to set out on one final con - a con that will give her room to study and effect the laws about education in the land -- marry the King's son Lachlan.

Unfortunately when she arrives at the castle it turns out Lachlan is missing, the king is ill, and Lachlan's brother's are just no good. They end up tossing her in a pit with a man who she falls in love with, while he protects her from a Wolfkin. Romantic shenanigan's ensue.

This is a sweet love story with a lot of fantasy elements. It reads like a fairy tale with scary shifters, mysterious people and arrogant protectors. You walk away from it feeling good and excited for the next books in the series. I got mine on preorderand couldn't put it down last night.

I found Stealing the Wolf a delightful read from beginning to end.

First of all, the heroine is a delight, even if she’s coerced by her cousin to impersonate a princess to connive herself into marriage to one of the four sons of a minor king. I wasn’t happy that the cousin did so, but Kiera took it in stride and tried to do her ‘job’. Her real issue with the kingdom they chose to deceive was because she lived there as a girl. Then she meets the three younger princes and they are all jerks or worse.

Unfortunately, they remembered pointy eared Kiera all too easily and before the reader or Kiera can say ‘opps’ she’s thrown in the dungeon where a large frightening wolf resides. Also in the dungeon is the love of her childhood, the eldest prince, Lachlan. While residing in the dungeon with Lachlan, she twice meets the wolf. Both times Lachlan has oddly disappeared. Instead of harming her, the wolf preys on those who have come to kill her. Still she doesn’t connect Lachlan to the wolf. Can’t really blame her because she’s a con-artist/grafter by occupation. She’d look for a more believable truth.

Needless to say, they fall in love despite their less than romantic rooms. (Or at least I fall in love with Lochlan. I seem to recall I fell faster than her.) Then Lachlan and Kiera escape the dungeon. Lachlan claiming he’s returned from studying elsewhere. The King is joyful his eldest son has finally got control of the beast within him. Lachlan knows the ability to control the beast actually comes from Kiera. Being no fool, he wishes to marry her. That will take a bit a finagling, for she’s not a princess. But that problem is the least of their troubles.

This was such an enjoyable story that kept me turning the pages and not wanting to stop reading. I adored Kiera. She is in the care of her cousin, Brogan, who is a con artist. Kiera tries to keep herself out of the schemes, but he convinces her to pose as a princess so they can all retire from being con-artists. Their target kingdom is the one where Kiera grew up, Cearbhall. She has some fond memories of the eldest brother Lachlan, but she ends up betrothed to the push-over Ian, who isn't extremely likable. The third brother, Ayden, has always been a troublemaker. When the group of con-artists arrives at the castle, you will be on the edge of your seat wondering if they will get away with it. The plot isn't overly complex, but I loved being able to read something fantasy that I could easily follow without getting confused or hung up in lore that I was not familiar with (that is why I usually shy away from the fantasy genre). The wolf-creature was a bit frightening and the visual of his claws gave me shivers. As the story unfolds and new twists are thrown in, you will be rooting for Kiera and Lachlan to succeed and end up together. I wish not to spoil anything, so I will just say that I recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance mixed with some magical elements. This is a great fairy-tale, very romantic, magical, and quite entertaining. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Set in a medieval like land of fantastical and magical proportions, Lachlan and Kiera are absolutely stunning together...for a con woman and wolfborn future kings, that is! Each with their own set of secrets-- Kiera can't remember her past and Lachlan wants to forget his --they find each other and rekindle a lost connection ever so sweetly. Throw in a loving scoundrel of a cousin, Brogan, and a couple nasty younger brothers scheming to not only reveal Lachlan's affliction, but steal his throne, and a couple nicely incorporated twists, you have yourself a lush new world and tale of intrigue. Ohh Did I mention there were elves?!!
I truly loved this book because of its attention to the budding relationship between the hero and heroine. Subtle hints of sexual tension lined the pages, but dared not interfere with the sweetness of the story. The author did a wonderful job of just telling the story of these two souls and the challenges they face to persevere.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy and magic. And I cannot wait for book two in the series, who I am told intends to feature Brogan! (my favorite secondary character!)
