This how-to jewelry-making book features the work of an array of invited jewelry designers influenced by the growing Steampunk trend. In Steampunk circles, jewelry-makers are often master metalsmiths who combine found objects with fine metals to create elaborate pieces. In Steampunk-Style Jewelry, the projects focus on "no fire" techniques—like simple stringing, wirework, hammering, stamping, gluing, stitching, and off-loom beadwork—so that even a beginner can create pieces in the style. Each project provides a complete materials and tools list, step-by-step instructions, and clear illustrations. This book offers a broad overview of a growing design trend that is part of the literary, industrial design, fashion, and popular culture scene. Readers will learn about the art movement through the many photographic sidebars that explore the many aspects of the trend.

The Maker's Workshop chapter was great on what tools and supplies one would need to construct projects in this book, yet the Basic Jewerly-Making Techniques chapter was limited to 4 pages; if you've never made jewerly this book will not teach you how. That being said, I liked this book a lot, and will make some of the project's listed, while other's inspired me to use materials I've had for some time. The instructions were well written, the illustrations were good, and the photography of the jewerly was crisp. This book was fun too, it was peppered with history of the Victorian era, old photos and lithographs; along with the whimsical and how this Steampunk trend began. e

This book is a steampunk lover's delight, especially for a woman interested in how this style translates to personal adornment. It is like a chocolate and ice cream treat rolled into one sumptuous pleasure. The pictures are gorgeous and beautifully represented.

I bought a used copy from Amazon and it arrived looking just as promised, in excellent condition. I look forward to many more hours spent perusing these pictures (and the helpful accompanying text) again and again. An unbelievable bargain at under $5.00 (including shipping) and worth the full price as well.

I strongly recommend this book to steampunk and jewelry lovers.

This book was pretty good, especially many of the projects and their out of the box designs. What I found was that many of the parts used I couldn't find anywhere to purchase or when I did they were off-the-wall expensive. Expensive because they had to be purchased from so many different suppliers all with their own shipping charges. This frustrated me. I know this was only suppose to give me ideas; however, I had a lot of steampunk parts but none like in this book. I'm glad I purchased it. Then I sold it back to Amazon. It wasn't a book I wanted to stay on my shelf.

Very cool book for anyone looking to get into steampunk jewelry making. This ideas are pretty easy to understand and the materials needed aren't too hard to find. The picture quality of this book is super nice. The pictures are crisp and clean and bright. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. I had a lot of fun looking at it and I'm not really into the Steampunk scene. This book is one that I would definitely recommend!

This is a great book overall...wonderful compilation of not only jewelry making, but little blurbs about Steampunk in general. I found it very interesting. Also, the jewelry isn't just a few pieces of stuff thrown together into a necklace, but they are super-creative ideas that I NEVER would've came up with to create little works of wearable art. I've always loved vintage/antique jewelry, and didn't realize that Steampunk was the style I found the most intriguing. My new obsession!

This is a wonderful collection -- and it is such fun to read, too!

I am getting into steampunk art and really wanted to get a better understanding of what it is... I found this book very helpful. I used to make a lot of jewelry and found this book inspiring me to get back into that. I love the samples of the work. Good instructions for someone new to jewelrymaking also. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so the yard sales will start... I'm ready!

There's a few good tips here, but much of this book seems like fluff. There's plenty of pictures of other artists Steampunk pieces, many of them not particularly good. The pieces also appear with very little by way of introduction or explanation. There's no details as to techniques used so they come off as filler pages. The book also sidetracks into references/recommendations into such things as "Steampunk" music and other seemingly unrelated topics. My guess is that this is an attempt to give us inspiring and holistic takes on Steampunk, but again, it just comes off as, at best disorganized, and at worst, disingenuous filler pages.
