I can't remember getting this annoyed and frustrated until I read this. Carter and Eva are a match made in heaven, diffident and insecure, they both act like a pair of infantile throwing fits for no reason other than just being immature. If there was a prize for being stupid and most irksome pair, this two takes the cake.

Though Carter gets irritating too, Eva just really got on my nerves with her whining, wanting but pretending not to. She plunged into marriage without giving it a thought then when the deed was done, insists she wants to think about it and refuses to move in with Carter. She wears the wedding ring on her right hand ( like that's gonna make any difference in her married status ) She would cry at a drop of a hat, gets angry and throws a fit at Carter then have sex and allows Carter to fondle her intimately at a restaurant. The story is all about sex, them having sex, sex and fondling in restaurants, closets, in the car, outside the car, just sex all around. It got to be so boring and meaningless I just skimmed every time I come across one ( and there's a LOT, almost in every page ) I never thought I'll get through reading this, but I did, but not without feeling so vexed, narked and riled and ticked off...etc,etc!

Solid 3 Stars

Eva:
I could not connect with her fully. There were instances where I could totally see where she was coming from. But for the most part she came off as very clueless. Childish to an extent, when it came to her back and forth-ness with Carter. Her constant assumptions instead of just confronting him head on. Especially after she and Carter had conversations about how they would handle any issues in the future. The fact that she continued to behave in this manner, did not endear her to me at all.

My biggest peeve with Eva was how she went about demanding that they take it slow, after they made the biggest decision of commitment to one another that two people could possibly make. Roughly two weeks after knowing each other I might add. I'm thinking "Now you want to take it slow? Not tell anyone? Not wear the ring? Not LIVE with your husband?" Yeah, I couldn't reconcile this nor get past her reasons for taking it there.

Carter:
He had his moments of ticking me off too. So many times he would have felt the love of my back hand. But Carter is a very intense character. He clearly had a lot of layers. Which I love, but I couldn't fully connect with him through he and Eva's quick romance, until his layers began to slowly be pulled back. It was refreshing to get to know him during their calmer more intimate talks. Which, to my disappointment were very few, but still came right on time when they did happen. Still I wish I knew more about him. Like, exactly how old is he? How did him becoming an obviously much younger CEO of a major corporation happen? I was wishing for his POV in many instances through out this story.

The Lace series was a perfect read for me! It has amazing story-telling, just enough intrigue, a larger-than-life hero and off the charts sex scenes! This recently released Omnibus consists of the previously released 4 parts/novellas.

Carter Morgan - he is everything that I love in a hero; He is a beyond gorgeous and sexy, ultra rich and successful, controlling and dominant, entitled and ruthless (with stalker tendencies), untouchable and non-committal playboy alpha male... Well at least until he met Evangeline, of course... This is their story!

Hero: Carter Jonathan Morgan/28 years old/billionaire/CEO-mogul-playboy/brown hair/steel blue eyes
Heroine: Evangeline Austin, "Eva"/26 years old/recent UMASS graduate-fashion website editor/dark brown hair/green eyes

"From the moment their eyes met across a crowded room..." they are simply captivated by each other. And so an intense whirlwind romance begins.

We get to follow Carter and Evangeline during that initial meeting through several "chance" encounters as they fall hard and fast! We then follow them as they embark on an intense affair that will consume them body and soul. It's every bit the roller-coaster ride one can expect when dating the ultimate playboy with the villains from his past set out to destroy them. And though some intrigue does come from outside sources their biggest obstacles will always come from within.

Carter is simply an unforgettable hero. I loved every moment of him! Eva is strong at times and other times very annoying which is often the case when paired with a larger-than-life hero.

Spellbinding storytelling, scorching sex scenes and of course, Carter Morgan!

I really felt like I was reading a book written for 21 year olds. They were both soooo immature. The tantrums and lack of communication drove me crazy in this book. Talk about cliches!!!!

I'm very glad I didn't buy this in installments.

Overall I liked the book. I felt like I could relate to Eve in that although already having finished college and having a good job she didn't have any relationship experience. Meeting someone as powerful and well known as Carter would have been overwhelming in the very least. If you fell for someone you saw everyday in the gossip papers and on TV it would be stressful. How do you know if what you feel is real or not, are you good enough? These are normal reactions in any relationship where you have seen the ex's, but 10x more if these ex's are considered the worlds most beautiful or wealthy.
Carter, he is a stubborn man. In business he seems ruthless but his relationships he seems to feel that he can bull his way into what he wants. That would drive me nuts, but you can see why he is the way he is.

Overall I love the story. I feel like books should make you feel emotion and this one did. If you want a book that is lovey dovey and the moon and stars all align, this isn't the one. This one is real world, raw emotions, pain, anger.... which all lead to love.
