Though Carter gets irritating too, Eva just really got on my nerves with her whining, wanting but pretending not to. She plunged into marriage without giving it a thought then when the deed was done, insists she wants to think about it and refuses to move in with Carter. She wears the wedding ring on her right hand ( like that's gonna make any difference in her married status ) She would cry at a drop of a hat, gets angry and throws a fit at Carter then have sex and allows Carter to fondle her intimately at a restaurant. The story is all about sex, them having sex, sex and fondling in restaurants, closets, in the car, outside the car, just sex all around. It got to be so boring and meaningless I just skimmed every time I come across one ( and there's a LOT, almost in every page ) I never thought I'll get through reading this, but I did, but not without feeling so vexed, narked and riled and ticked off...etc,etc!
Carter, he is a stubborn man. In business he seems ruthless but his relationships he seems to feel that he can bull his way into what he wants. That would drive me nuts, but you can see why he is the way he is.
Overall I love the story. I feel like books should make you feel emotion and this one did. If you want a book that is lovey dovey and the moon and stars all align, this isn't the one. This one is real world, raw emotions, pain, anger.... which all lead to love.
Okay so let me list the characters of this series and the other series.
I'm surprised the person who write this didn't give Carter a name similar to Jesse's because most of his dialogue was the same. Saying he wants to be tied to her forever, the whole lace thing, not wanting her to go to New York or talk to an ex. He was not as overbearing or possessive as Jesse and by comparison, Carter is a wimp really. Jesse would never give Ava the amount of space he did with Eva.
Eva was just as stupid as Ava. Running the minute she sees Carter's ex leave out of his office. Goes running to Cate and then wants to call him after ignoring him to give him a chance to apologize and explain even though he doesn't have a clue what her problem is! Cate turns Carter away the door and Eve flips out about it even though she said she didn't want to see him.
And she cried over everything! Ran to Cate about every little issue in the relationship, more than Ava did.
It was ridiculous! I didn't even read the whole thing. After chapter nineteen I just started jumping chapters ahead and returned the book when I got to the chapter that she got knocked up.
I can't even call the person who copied another book an author. I wonder what other authors she tried to copied. And like someone else said the book is so fast paced, you can't connect or relate to any of the characters. they were saying I love yous before chapter ten!
It was just a cluster F of ridiculous mess. I don't know what else to say about it. Talk about a waste of three dollars.
I liked the story and thought that it flowed really well. My only complaint was that it really sounded like those two series and I wanted something different. Not saying that Miss Leigh cant write a story because tryst me she can, I know, I have read the newest ones but I wanted more. I can say that Carter is sexy, domineering and oh so rich. not saying I would go for the rich part but it was there, you cannot over look it. Eva, I just don't know about her. Sometimes she got on my nerves and would run before she would confront. I guess I just wanted her stronger. I did like them together even if they both were freaking out when they didn't need too. To me, I felt like they need to just communicate and they there would be so many problems. They were sexy and when they were not fighting it was very hot!
I love Miss Leigh. I love her style and will honestly read anything that she has written.
