- Decent sound quality. Very consistent with mids and lows. Full and well balanced
- Very comfortable for my head. The headset hugs the sides just enough to keep them firmly planted, but are still comfortable for longer sessions.
- Flaky MIC. Often times every 2-3 words spoken were picked up by other players. As I got more use out of the headphones the volume of my voice degraded to a point where I could barely be heard. This is after adjusting the volume through the consoles settings.
- Proprietary cables means if you lose or damage the cable that plus into the headset (8 pin to 8 pin) or the controller (8 pin to 4-pole), as they are separate cables, you're out of luck until you can order new cables from SteelSeries. They are rarely in stock. I tried some 3rd party adapters and extensions that simply don't work.
Based on the flaky mic and the poor design choice for the cables, I would never recommend this headset
I'm that guy with giant dumbo ears who always gets pain from wearing headphones for prolonged periods of time. Even the Siberia V2's bothered me after a while. They always felt like they applied just a little too much pressure around the head from wearing them. This isn't true for the Arctis 3 at all. The ear cushions have more than enough room to fit my ears, which is such a damn relief, you have no idea. The way the headset sits around my head? Good gosh, I never thought I'd see the day where I almost forgot I was wearing them. It really is that comfortable. The adjustable suspension band helps get that "perfect" fit so they don't sit too high or low.
They finally did away with that silly volume adjustor halfway down the cord and incorporated the controls into the side of the right earphone. Easy to adjust volume and mute the microphone on the fly. The cords are great quality and plug in nice and firm, nothing shoddy about it (you can sit 10+ feet away too). I honestly like the way they designed it. There are two separate spots for the cord to disconnect itself incase you forgetfully pull away or someone trips over the cord, etc. Less likely to damage something. The overall quality of the headset is just superb. I really am impressed with Steelseries right now. The Siberia V2 felt like garbage when you held them, like you could snap them into a million pieces. I literally have nothing bad to say about the Arctis 3.
Last but not least they finally, FIIIINNNAALLLLYYYY made it possible to fold the damn things up for easy storage/transport. They sell a soft/hard case as well, which I've since purchased that is excellent to have when traveling. There's plenty of room to store a mouse, external hard drive, etc. I cram everything in this bad boy.
Oh and sound quality? Just perfect for me. If you want an audiophile's review on things they pretend to perceive differently, then this review was not for you.

the seller Appario Retail Private Ltd is actually giving out 2019 model ( without bt one's) even though the listing says 2016 so it has a better mic and newer color pattern and cables
1) the max volume on these is about 50-60% of average earphones you will always find yourself trying to increase the volume even though its at max
2)the didn't include an aux cable ? but it has a aux input (at least its there though)
3)it uses their own weird style of input cable which looks similar to micro usb which is bad and non reversible and take 4-5 tries to insert it they could have used a standard type c or micro usb cable
I use these headphones daily, and the ear cuffs are very comfortable and cover my ears entirely. The "ski strap" is also very comfortable as well, and as a whole the headset is not heavy at all. I like all the customization you get with their downloadable engine.
A complaint I have about this product is that occasionally, when I lightly touch the wire close to where the connections are, the sound stops or becomes very quiet in the left ear where the mic is, at times like these I have to wiggle the wire a little bit to get the sound working. Minor annoyance.
Another thing is I don't like the little control panel that comes with the headphones (the little dial that switches between game and voice) - I've yet to use it and it just feels like a useless function to me. It also feels like it makes the headset unnecessarily more unorganized due to all the extra wiring, since I can't use my headphones without it. I also have to keep that little dial far away so that I don't accidentally budge it. Sometimes I do budge it and I end up wondering if there is something wrong with my sound, because that dial is never the first thing that I think of when I get no sound in my headphones.
I know Steel series is a good company so i don't know why this headset was so bad :(
Just get the hyperx cloud 2 for a little more money, I have it now as a replacement for this one and it is much better <3
Cons: Mild - Not sound proof, can hear sounds bleed through. No USB.
I was looking for a reasonably priced headset to replace an aging one and found this Arctis 3, as a Prime day deal. I had read glowing reviews of the Arctis 7 so decided to waive the high price tag and try out their cheaper version, the Arctis 3. Overall, I found a headset I can be happy with for the next few years. It sits comfortably, I can hear and frag my Fortnite opponents with ease. My friends can clearly hear me and the cable is long enough and doesn't get in the way. I sit next to my gf when I game and when were both logged into Twitch, our voices don't echo.
1. Good clarity
2. Nice mids and lows with moderate bass(It is tuned for gaming)
3. Sturdy build quality
4. Retractable mic
5. Simple but comfortable design
6. Long cables
7. Nice air pads and headrest, will not heat up as it is fabric
8. Soft rubber body paint for a comfortable grip
9. Earcups will fold if you want to put it on your shoulder
10. Price is justified
Negative: Wire quality is not that great, no sleevings and all but it will last if you take good care!
Even though at first the ear cushions seem comfortable enough, after a long periods of use I end up feeling some discomfort due to my ear lobe making contact with the bottom of the ear cut and I only replacing the ear pads for thicker ones was able to resolve the issue. Also the elastic band got looser over time and the velcro pad are too small and no longer allowed be to adjust it correctly so I had to re-sew them higher on the band.
Finally the biggest reason I lowered my rating is because of the modular cable, at first it seems awesome, giving you more flexibility with the shorter single mobile jack nice to use on the go or at the desk and longer dual 3.5mm cable perfect for the living room. However after spending a lot of time trying to figure out why the microphone kept picking up the audio output, even when the volume on the headset is completely turned off. I am now convince that this extension connector causes the output signal is bleeding into the microphone input.
Everyone was always complaining that there was echo when I was playing online so I ended up buying a different headset. I guess you can pick this up when it's on sale, but at full price it's not worth it!
I keep getting crackling noises unless I keep the volume at a barely audible level... (Even then, I do hear some popping noises).
This headset is very very comfortable- it feels almost like you aren't even wearing it- and looks very nice, with a simple but attractive design. The dual microphone/headphone plug-ins for PC don't bother me at all. I love the phone adapter. I was very excited to try these on for the first time...
Unfortunately, I have had issues with loud crackling and popping since the first time I tried them. I think the issue is with the cord. I made sure my audio drivers were updated, and other headsets I tried did not have this issue with my laptop.. so unfortunately these headphones must be to blame.
I got the blue version for my boyfriend at the same time, and he has not experienced the same problem.. but 1 out of 2 headsets working with $100 headphones is not really acceptable. I will have to look into returning these...
In the office we have 3 sets of Sennheiser U 320 already but they are discontinued so needed a new headset that looked good in an office (not too gamey). Compared to the Sennheisser's these are better in every way.
The earpieces are super comfy with material and not plastic leather which is good, they sit very well over my big ears and block out a lot of sound - was quite shocked how much background noise is shut out by the fit. The sound has a touch more bass than I'm sued to from other headsets and headphones, had a play in Windows sound enhancement settings but in the end put it back to default and I soon got used to the extra bass and now like it. The build quality is great (much better than the Senn's). They light up with a cool and not overstated LED glow on the edges and Steelseries logo, I assume you can turn this off but for now looks nice anyway. There is volume control on the earpiece, another on the cord too, so plenty of options there. Also a mic mute on the earpiece or push in the mic. The mic is on a bendy stick so durable and position-able near your mouth for the best recording quality. Tried out the mic too and super happy, excellent quality, as good or better than the Sen's which was also great.
This pair is headed to the office but now I'm thinking I need another pair for me in the home office and replace some JVC's I use.
