This my first review. My sister bought this headset for herself way way back and it’s still good as new. I love how it’s very comfortable on your ears and the sound quality is amazing. I decided to buy myself a pair when my old headset broke. I’m much more happy with this one, I have less issues (0 now) with voice chat on gaming, easy to store as the mic retractes in, easy on the ears for long use. Only two cons I would say is price but you get what you pay for and that the mute button isn’t very prominent so at first I didn’t know if the mic was broken or that it was muted. Now I figured out to tell if it’s muted or not from the button position.

Soft over ear pads, comfortable headband on top, telescoping microphone with a toggle mute button above the volume wheel. Very nice quality crisp sound, can easily hear where footsteps and gunfire are coming from without needing volume blasting. 10/10 will buy again as long as the are durable in the coming months.

EDIT: April 2023- headphones were an amazing option, got new headphones for christmas and opted for the wireless arctis 9 because the cats kepts chewing up the cord to this one. Still an amazing pair of headphones! Keeping in my closet for a backup or gift.

For just 50 bucks it is so good. It is very comfortable. I am using this on my pc and switch. It is very comfortable and the sound is great. I'm not the one to critique the sound of something. For me it is great. The mic is great. Feels very durable. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a cheap gaming headset. Usually, the steel series headsets are very expensive but for just 50 bucks it is a great way to get a feel of how steel series is and so far I love it. I have no complaints about it so far. I have had it for about 2 months now.

I LOVE this headset. I wasn't looking at breaking the bank to get me a new gaming headset to replace my original PlayStation gold headset. The sound cancellation is superb compared to the gold headset and the detail and sounds that I can hear from footsteps suggest all around surround sound of a wide variety of games is awesome. I was not expecting this good of results for what I paid but I'm glad I did.

I’ve had these out of the box for about 30 minutes now.

First impressions were good. There is a little scuffing on one of the ear cups but overall they seemed new. They don’t come with any instructions, which is annoying but can easily be googled, so it’s whatever.

However plugging them in to my PS4 led to disappointment quickly. I was under the impression (through Amazon questions section) that these would work with the Sidetone feature on the PS4. They do not immediately. Apparently you need to download an engine from steel series, which is fine, but you soon find out that it only works with windows 7+. I unfortunately have a Mac for day to day use. I’m currently working on downloading the engine to an old computer that we have, so I’ll update on how that goes.

Overall, sound is terrible. Music, call of duty, whatever it plays is terrible. It is piercing as if it focuses solely on the highs. Almost painful to listen to. For gaming, you can’t hear enemies nearby, which is unfortunate because I’ve always used $20 headphones that sounded and worked significantly better. Perhaps the software engine will help with the equalizer as well..

If not, I’ll try to swap these out in hopes that it’s just an issue with a refurbished set. Either way, I’ll try to leave an update as to how these end up though it’s not great so far.

UPDATE: These are going back to Amazon. They sound fine on PC but are terrible on PS4 for some reason. The company says that you can adjust various things through their sound engine, but once you download that, you dig your way through a few links and find out that the headset is no longer supported lol. They made sure to bury that deep.

After wearing for 10 or so minutes, they seem to get really hot too, at least compared to my $20 headphones.

I’m extremely disappointed in steelseries for this one.
