The main thing to mention in comparison is that the SteelSeries thumb buttons are easier to find with fingers and easier to press. When gaming, a few moments fumbling for a button can be the difference between nailing your timing and missing something, so those more obvious buttons have been a life-saver. However, doing productivity work, I've more frequently accidentally pressed the right-side thumb buttons on the SteelSeries when moving the mouse to the left.
The Razer does have onboard profiles that allow you to remap all buttons and save the remapping to the device itself. This is a feature that the original SteelSeries Sensei had that I'm not sure if the Ten has carried over. It's helpful, but not a deal breaker if you're using the same computer all the time.
Finally, the Razer put the DPI toggle button on the bottom of the mouse, a brilliant thing to do as DPI buttons are usually way too easy to hit and cause a few seconds to re-find your preference after it happens. Luckily, the SteelSeries does with the DPI button what Razer did with the thumb buttons: it's recessed and much more stiff than the rest of the mouse buttons. I've never accidentally hit the DPI button in now months of use on the SteelSeries, so kudos to both companies for finding independent, workable solutions to this problem.
Other than the Razer's annoying thumb buttons, both the Razer and the SteelSeries are fantastic mice, and I expect to have both for years. Both companies do amazing work.

And after shopping around a bit, it didn't seem any other ambi mice had the same durability, and there were subtle differences in the positioning of the thumb buttons that made me worry about hurting my wrist. Most gaming mice hurt my wrist: the slight angle non-ambi mice have on the top surface and having to reach farther to use the thumb buttons both contribute.
I was a little worried that the new model wouldn't be shaped exactly the same, but it is. It was difficult to get in a picture, but once I plugged it in and started using it. Yeah, exactly the same shape and height. And after a few weeks, the pain that I had gotten from trying out my old spare right handed mice, went away completely.
The sensei ten doesn't have the peeling issue that the cheaper models have, but the "soft touch" finish pretty much immediately starts to look bad. I don't game for the glamor, so it doesn't bother me at all. You can remove it entirely by just cleaning the mouse and patience.
The dpi switch button is a bit more complex than my older model, but it's easy to set it back down to just a 2 option toggle, like I'm used to with the older model. The old model had two settings light on= one dpi setting, light off = the other setting. The new set up is it will flash 1-5 times depending on the default setting. as if I have time to count flashes in the middle of a FPS matgh. I don't like the flashing light, but it's not like I was pausing to look at my mouse in FPS games before, so it's mostly inconsequential for me. I am trying out 3 settings at the moment, but plan to go back to 2 options.
I also like the cord a lot more. The cord for the older model was very stiff and it would restrict my movement even after owning the mouse for years. The new cord is very pliable and has no effect on my game play at all.
And the color settings were very easy to change.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with this mouse and I recommend it to everyone, regardless of handedness.

Steelseries support is embarrassingly bad. They will tell you that the issue can be solved by updating your drivers.
You can try and clean it as best as you can, but without opening it you won't get everything out. Lubing the wheel would certainly help prevent this problem, but good luck doing that without opening it.
So why not just open it? Well, it's easy - you first just have to destroy the feet on the bottom because steelseries put the screws under them.
I'm frustrated because I really want to love this mouse, but the poor construction of the wheel, the lack of reparability, and steelseries inability to deal with the most basic of technical problems has really turned me away.

*edit - the scroll wheel has started squeeking like a literal mouse. This happened to the older model I replaced as well but took that one a year. Probably won't buy another SteelSeries mouse again.

I got this mouse after I failed to repair my old Sensei which I've used for a LONG time (Rest in Peace little buddy :( ) I managed to grab this mouse on a pretty decent sale and I would say the mouse is pretty good!
I personally like the classic shape of the Sensei as it supports my hand pretty well (I palm grip my mouse for the most part). The switches feel pretty decent, not much to say about them. The weight is a non-issue to me. The RGB lighting looks pretty nice, although I'm not really in to color coordinating my gear. I also like the smaller touches that Steelseries made on the mouse like the small "Ten" icon on the side and the bottom of the mouse being slightly transparent so you can see the internals of the mouse.
I do feel that the finish on the top top shell of the mouse gets worn off pretty quickly (mine wore off after around a couple weeks). The cable does feel a bit cheap as the rubber is kind of firm, but it's not as bad as some reviews have put it. However, I do feel that the cable should be braided or at least a premium soft rubber given the MSRP.
Overall I would say that the Sensei Ten is an awesome ambidextrous mouse but I would wait for a decent sale. At MSRP, it's a bit of a harder sell.
