Powerful Beauty

The SteelSeries Siberia v2 headset is the successor to SteelSeries Siberia Full-size USB headset, which revolutionized several features in the headset industry. The Siberia v2 features a beautiful design combined with functionality and performance, all in one headset.

Retractable Microphone

The Siberia v2 features a retractable microphone that can be hidden in the left earcup, which means you can use it when you need it, but don't have to flash it in public if you don't want to.

Quality Driver Units

It's one thing to have a beautiful exterior, but it's what's inside that makes these one of the best quality headsets on the market. A 50 mm driver unit with crystal clear sound in high, low, and mid-range ensures quality output for multiple uses.

Volume Control

The integrated volume controller on the cord offers an option to handle sound volume manually. This feature is especially useful when you are using your Siberia v2 USB with other devices and don't have swift access to setting volume levels in your software.

Noise Reduction

The earcups feature a noise reducing foam, which helps you to focus on the important audio or voice communication, and not being disturbed or interrupted by outside noise.

What Critics Are Saying About the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Headset

"... Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer provided my main test bed for audio accuracy, and I was surprised at how efficiently stereo sound works in the game. I was able to determine the direction of enemy fire and distant explosions as well as I can wile using my 5.1 headphones. The new piano black earcups are awesome ... and like the last model in the Siberia line, they're as comfy as a Snuggie." Score: 93%
--PCGamer.com

"They look awesome enough to be teamed with an iPod, and the tiny, responsive geektastic mic tucks away nicely."
--PCFormat.TechRadar.com

"The SteelSeries Siberia v2 is one of the best gaming headsets we've reviewed. It's solid, sounds fantastic and is comfortable to wear. If you're looking for a gaming headset for around this price range, then there's no reason you shouldn't pick up a Siberia v2 for yourself."

A video review of the SteelSeries Siberia V/2 USB-powered headset. One thing I failed to mention: The headeset WILL run without the accompanying software, but you lose some functionality by not using the software. Without it, you cannot adjust the LED settings and you cannot change equalizer settings.

I was expecting a good headset when I bought these. What I was not expecting was to fall in love.

Pros:
Its fits perfectly and the unique design completely removes any pressure from the ears/head.
Sound is amazing
looks cool on your head

Cons:
Does not say I love you back when I got to bed
Apparently it is not legal to marry these headphones in the state of Arizona.
Taking these headphones out for a romantic evening will get you laughed at.
Does not make you run faster
Could not be used as a weapon in the zombie apocalypse.

The steel series Siberia v2 headset packs a lot of quality for the money. I picked this headset up on Cyber Monday for $50, along with an Astro Pro Mix amp. My review of this headset will contain both the use of the astro mix amp, and without.
So I want to keep this more focused on gaming, since this is a gaming headset. I can't tell you how angry it makes me reading reviews on gaming headsets where the reviewer is just talking about how great or terrible it sounds listening to classical music, when all you want to know is how well it performs while gaming! I will include a bit about music, but I won't wax on about it.

So I've previously owned Turtle Beach x1, TB x3 (wireless), and Tritton AX pro headsets. I can say with great confidence these blow all of them combined out of the water! I also have experience using the Astro A40, and Sennheiser PC360s (Currently called the G4ME One) both with Astro Mix amp. Far and away the Mix amp with PC 360 is the best setup I've ever experienced (For gaming).
-------------------------------

Siberia V2 without mix amp tested on PC with AC Unity, Battlefield 4, and Left for Dead 2:

*Good sound stage for positional Audio. Caught a few people sneaking up on me, but got caught a lot when a lot of sound was happening. Could not tell whether enemies were up high or low, but could hear them walking all around me.
*Kind of quite compared to what I am use to, but still loud enough to make gaming enjoyable.
*The Lows are very dominant, but not overwhelming. They Handle the blends of highs mids and lows all happening at the same time, without the sounds all bleeding together, or cutting out like some headsets (Astro A40).

These are advertised as headphones for gamers. Insofar as they are used for gaming, they fulfil the role perfectly.

I'm not a headphone connoisseur, but as an avid player of games (particularly first-person shooters), these headphones give you clarity of environmental awareness that you cannot get with a speaker set-up. I put these on and realised for the first time that I could hear the ejected shells from my shots landing on the ground off to my right.

Also important for gaming, I find that I can wear these for hours without feeling uncomfortable. If you've read any of the other reviews, no doubt you would have heard about the headband design. Well, they're right. The headphones sit on your head and just - just - hold on with enough pressure to keep them around your ears but not to the point they attempt to get through your cranium.

The microphone is good. It's clear and adequately sensitive. It's no studio recording microphone and some friends have said that I sounded unusual, but given its size and the fact that I can push it away when I'm not using it, I have no complaints there.

I bought the Frost Blues, which comes with a USB sound card. Now, not being an audiophile, I honestly have no idea what the sound card is doing. But the benefits of having this output from a USB port means I don't have to take my speakers out. It also means I can plug this into my keyboard's USB port. Note that it also means you can't use this with your phone if you intend to bring it around. But I didn't, so that sat fine with me.

Why isn't this five stars? For several reasons.

As earlier mentioned, I plug this into my keyboard.

Could not ask for anything else in a gaming headset. I've used a number of gaming headsets in the past and I always had the issue with it being either uncomfortable, or them sliding off my head whenever I look down to find something that fell off my desk or something. These? Neither of those are an issue. They're literally the most comfortable headset I've ever used and not to mention they will never fall off your head, even if you're hanging upside down...although I don't see why you would.

The USB Sound Card seals the deal with the headset. It's much better than using an integrated one found on your motherboard. The sound quality it delivers is nothing short of amazing. Turning bass boost on this and wow... that's all I can describe it as. Crystal clear sound, awesome bass if you turn it on, and the retractable microphone is non-intrusive and is also great quality.

Even though you'll never see it, the illuminated outer cups on the headset can either pulsate, or flicker with the sound that plays on your headset. Pretty nice feature, but the "Trigger" option emits a high-pitched tone whenever sound plays for some reason. The other settings don't have this and it puzzles me why this happens.

Any worries about the cord are nonexistent. The cord from the headset to the sound card is 1 meter, while the extension cable is 2 meters, so plenty of room to work with...besides, how far away do you need to be from your computer anyway?

As far as durability goes, these are top notch. I sometimes have these falling on the ground because the cord gets caught on my chair then I swivel to get up. I've had this happen countless times and no damage whatsoever is noticed as far as sound or any visual damage goes.
