You can ski, snowboard, fly in a wingsuit or float in a parachute (that one is very hard to steer and not much fun IMO) most of which are pretty cool.
There are various challenges where you either race, score points with tricks or go through checkpoints. As you play you unlock other areas.
You level up but there doesn't seem to be much of a reason as to why, certain areas are only available to higher levels but that seems to be the only reason.
As I said it's certainly not a deep game but the mechanics are sound and the mountains look great. Know what you are getting and you should enjoy it.
Controls: I have been skiing for about 30 years and snowboarding for about 26 years. I don't go every day like I used to when I was younger, but I make it out to the slopes as much as possible. The controls for the snowboard feel pretty good. I am not so convinced about skiing however. I actually prefer skiing over snowboarding in real life. The mechanics in the game don't quite capture what it feels like to carve in skiing. There is no pole planting in the game. You can somewhat mimic the feel by using the Left stick and feathering with the Right, but I would love it if you could press the Left Trigger to plant poles on the turn, which would offer that extra little oomph when turning. Just the simple act of making beautiful carved turns in powder is something no other sport, outside of skiing and snowboarding, can offer.
Jumps: A subset of controls, but jumping feels like you have to release the Right Trigger too early. When I am hitting moguls or jumps in real life you don't lift up before your ski or board tip hits the lip of the jump, it's usually a little later right before your boot is about to cross the top. I the game I am constantly dampening my jumps. Perhaps it's controller lag.
Tricks: While difficult to pull off at first, snowboarding has many of the same tricks you can do in real life. Skiing, not so much. Where's the daffy? The ultimate old school ski trick. I'd love to be able to pull off some Spread Eagles, Backscratchers, Half Moons etc. Who knows maybe these aren't around or called that anymore, but I still do them off of moguls. Any type of trick list would be nice.
Gear: I'm not really sure how to use the gear. I was able to equip the GoPro but it was... well... too much like a GoPro. It's wonky as hell and I can't see what I'm doing. A more refined first person perspective would be great.
Misc.: I know this may sound silly, but I would love to see even more of an explorative aspect to the game. There are cabins and huts here and there. It would be great to be able to go in and pick up some type of gear, collectible, or interact with non-playable characters.
You don't have to have XBOX Live unless you want to play multiplayer or communicate with other gamers.
