I'd give this item 5 stars if it weren't for the buttons. They aren't shaped well for moving your thumb over. The back light is actually kind of annoying if not useless since you program the buttons yourself and the icons on the buttons probably don't bear much resemblance to the functions their assigned to. Even the package says "Easily control all functions of your car stereo .... without taking your eyes off the road." So why have the backlight? It's easy to feel what button your pushing. If they just shaped the buttons with that in mind it would be a 5 star item.
There are cheaper alternatives out there (in the $10 to $20 range), so unless you need all these buttons I'd get one of the others. One of the bonuses to this remote is it can actually remember 3 button settings, like you'd have for a universal remote controlling cable, tv, and dvd. The f buttons on the bottom select which set to use. You get 13 buttons * 3 sets = 39 different functions you can program.
One tip that goes for any of these remotes: After you install it, put a steering wheel cover on so that the little strap doesn't snag your fingers.
Here are some poorly translated instructions. One thing though... after it remembers your code and starts blinking, don't press any buttons. It blinks for a long time and if you push any buttons it will forget.
To memory the codes,
0. Face each window of MPR-999 and the original remote you wish to memorize.
1. Press F1
2. Press power and ATT button together at the same time for 5 sec.
3. LED will blink
4. Press button you wish to use on MPR-999. Then press button you wish to memorize on original remote.
5. MPR-999 will learn the codes at the button. LED lamp will blink. If it fails to learn, LED lamp will blink faster.
6. Repeat 1-5 for all other buttons.
By this way you can set all the necessary buttons on F1 mode.
You can make MPR-999 learn another whole set of buttons on F2 (and F3) mode.
Press F2 (F3), then repeat above steps.
So this remote can remember codes set of 3 devices and control 3 devices in the car. Now days some cars have more than 2 kind of devices such as car audio, Navigation, DVD, etc. so this
