32-bit/192 kHz audio resolutionThe industry-leading converters deliver exceptional audio quality, thanks to a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz with 32-bit resolution. |
Class-A D-PRE mic preampsThe UR-C series features D-PRE preamps, offering stellar recording quality unmatched in this class of products. |
Compatible with all major audio softwareOur UR-Cs are compatible with all major audio software supporting the ASIO, Core Audio or WDM standard, providing a fully integrated, DSP-based monitoring setup wherever you are and with whichever DAW you use. |
Monitor modesThe UR24C has two separate, switchable monitor modes: DAW and DJ. In DAW mode – used for producing music with a DAW, such as Cubase – you can adjust the balance of the signals coming from the DAW and from the UR24C’s inputs. In DJ mode – optimized for performances with DJ software or backing tracks – you can choose to either output the mono master sound to the right side of your headphones, with the mono cue sound to the left, or have both in stereo and mix the two. |

Often used by hosts of live online broadcasts, when the function is active, incoming audio signals to the UR-C (such as microphone, guitar or line source) are merged with the signal coming from audio playback software like Cubase or another DAW inside the computer. |
MIDI input and outputAll UR-C audio interfaces are equipped with a MIDI I/O port to connect any MIDI device, making them extremely flexible for studio recording. Many studios and musicians still use MIDI input devices, classic sound modules, samplers and more as an integral part of their signature sound. |

UR-C’s seamless integration with iPad is enhanced by the inclusion of Cubasis LE, for creating professional music productions on your iPad. dspMixFx provides zero-latency monitoring with effects for every DAW with straightforward control of all routings and settings. |

My computer has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 inputs and while it worked with 2.0 it did slow down the video software but with 3.0 it's perfect. There's an online review that discussed the output knob being loose but that's not the case with mine as the build quality is solid throughout. The pre amps aren't going to replace my Manley SLAM but they're very acceptable and capable of doing professional level audio and while the compressor, EQ and reverb effects may be useful in a bind, they're also not going to replace my library of VST effects.
The headphone amp has plenty of gain and a good bottom end, unfortunately I've only used my 80 ohm Beyerdynamic dt 770's which are bright so I can't comment on how neutral the output is. Always grateful when I buy something, plug it in and it works as expected. If you're looking for stable, this is your interface.

1. The only way to turn it off is to switch it from USB-C power to MicroUSB, using a tiny switch on the back. I'm fine reaching across the desk to accomplish this, but sometimes you just want a power switch right at the front.
2. The only way to switch +48v is a tiny switch on the back of it. Look, I know this sounds like I'm repeating myself, but damn I wish it were a button or switch on the front panel.
BUT
Here's why neither of those things matter: I am using a rather tough to power condenser, and I had to turn the gain up quite a bit, but you know what? I don't hear noise. In fact, I don't hear the system noise until I am very close to 95% of maximum gain, well past where I get a good signal going for -12 to -6
The thing must have all of it's power supply and wires in the back of the unit, because this thing is quiet!
I cranked my D-75A to max, cranked the UR-22C monitor knob to max, and I have to place my head right about six inches from the speaker to hear the faintest hiss. Meanwhile, that would pop my ear wide open if I played something at those levels. At unity, it's silent!
Playback is clear, but my monitors are not isolated from the table and one is next to a corner and yadda yadda I really can't comment on the sonic purity of the signal, but it is clear. Played some CD rips through the system and they sound nice and flat, just as they should on my system.
I am waiting for my new computer before I install any included software, but I am looking forward to the built in DSP functionality.
Edit:
The supplied DSP effects are solid and can be used for playback/monitor only OR record friendly for a track. There's a couple guitar amp effects and a Compressor+EQ with independent operation. Also the reverb send/return busses are a neat addition.
I use the EQ + Comp to give my condenser a little more closeness and it works as intended, nothing sticks out, very controllable and worth using to spice up playback.
Nothing about the UR-22c has disappointed me, or let me down, it's exactly what I bought, exactly what I hoped to get integrated into my system.
The UR66C with its USB 3.0 connected through my USB 3.1 and “Super Speed” driver selected, this interface needed no buffer adjustments at all. Sound quality is Awesome as it is with all Steinberg products. Solid Build, Great Feel to the Knobs.
Now for what I do not like…
As with all products there will be something that you don’t like. This product is no different. In Steinberg’s Re-Design they took away the On-Off (power button) that use to be located on the back corner by the power plug. Without this On-Off button this interface is Always On. This may be fine for those of you that have a Full Time Studio but for my home studio this causes problem.
For Music Production I boot to a Stripped Down Win 10 Boot Drive that has nothing but CuBase 10 PRO on it and in that situation “Always On” is OK. BUT this computer is also used as a Home Theater PC and needs to use the 6.1 Surround Sound Card and NOT the USB Interface... In that situation without an On-Off button you have to unplug the unit which is very inconvenient or leave it on which I don’t like to do.
All in all, I love this interface but it really needs an On-Off button… Because of this I will have to connect the power supply to a switched outlet.

The gain knob is smooth up until the last - 2nd last dot on the dial (5 ~ 4 o'clock on the dial), where the preamp starts to get overdriven and clips really easily. However, using it as an interface for an XLR mic sounds perfectly fine if you keep it at reasonable levels.
Can be powered by an external micro usb power supply, or with the included USB-C directly from your computer/ PC. However, I recommend running an external power supply, as my beefy desktop was experiencing audio cut outs with direct USB-C in. Make sure the external power has enough power and current to run the interface as well, or you'll still experience problems.
Overall, the features and specs is what sold me on this, and I have to say I'm quite pleased with the build and interace. However, the major downside is that the preamp is a bit garbage, and I hope they fix it in the next interation, as this interface would otherwise be as good as a Focusrite.

on Windows...
Software setup is troublesome.
Yamaha has a weird DRM scheme with its included software. There is a licence manager that you need to install on Windows in order to get your bundled software.
In short, I couldn't register the product to get CubebaseAI and all the other plugins that comes with it. Shame.
Currently disappointed not getting the full package but at least I have the drivers working and I can use it in another DAW. Or I'll just use my Linux setup.
If your looking for your 1st interface with a DAW on Windows - look elsewhere.

Hence I don't use the FX and Mixer (plus if you lose the cardboard with the FX that are clearly unique to the interface, you lost the "added value"
