Would you remember me if I never existed?

This time will be the last time.

When Kurisu visits her friends at the Future Gadget Lab, something’s not quite right. Out of nowhere, Okabe disappears and Kurisu must risk everything to save the mad scientist who tried countless times to save her.

Product Description

Experience the enthralling conclusion to the mind-bending hit series, Steins;Gate, as the original creators intended.

A year has passed since Okabe reached the Steins Gate world-line where Mayuri is alive, Kurisu hasn't been killed, and time only moves forward. Visiting Japan, Kurisu stops by the Future Gadget Lab where everyone is up to their usual shenanigans. But something's not quite right-memories of other timelines continue to haunt Okabe... or are they visions? Out of nowhere, a message is left for Kurisu: cell phone, microwave, SERN. Strong emotions blur the world-lines and trigger déjà vu. Before she knows it, Okabe disappears. Unable to let go of the one who never existed, Kurisu makes a daring return to the past. Hoping to save the mad scientist who tried countless times to save her, she must make a decision-risk everything, or live in a world without Okabe.

This film continues directly off of the series, and enjoyment of it will be heavily predicated upon having watched the entire series and grown attached to the lovable, affable denizens of the Future Gadgets Laboratory. You've been warned.

That stated: It's absolutely excellent.

Without delving too deeply into the realm of spoilers, this movie works directly with the consequences for Hououin Kyouma (a.k.a. Okabe Rintarou) in all that was lost and earned in changing word lines and grasping his own future. It's a direct continuation of the main series, taking place some time after episode 25's partial denouement. As far as I will get into spoiling or spoilers, the movie is told mostly from the perspective of the faithful assistant Kuristina.

In truth, this film wasn't necessary to cement this series among the greats and classics - it already resided in that echelon. So the concern then might be that the film is a detriment, but that is a fear unfounded.

The story told in the main series was concise, though wanting it may have been for further closure between our mad scientist and faithful assistant, that was a want that could have been left to the ages. Rest assured though, reader, that nothing is sullied through the creation of this film and it treats the world and characters with the same respect the main scenario did. Truly it's akin to the Cowboy Bebop Movie and what that was to its own series - not necessary or begged, but thematically consistent and truly excellent in its own right. The main difference being that this film is essentially an encore finale for the series. It has very real ramifications, stakes, and emotion with the expense being that it doesn't stand alone.

You can read more thorough reviews of the movie from certainly more worldly, interesting critics than I, so I'll get to my point and cease the chattering.

The English dub for this series and film is, appropriately, among the best there have ever been. The respect for the characters as evident in the line writing and delivery is astounding and could potentially sway even the most staunch purist among us to that oft forbidden second audio track. I really must deliver my most sincere platitudes to the cast (J. Michael Tatum, Trina Nishimura, Ashly Burch et al.) for standing up and delivering on what was a decidedly tall order. The original Japanese performances were stellar as well, and I can imagine it was no small feat to try and follow that act.

In the box you get the Blu-ray and DVD copies of the movie, with a foil graphic slip cover jacket. As stated above, dual audio is available in either English or Japanese with English subtitles optional. The film itself just barely crosses the 90 minute feature length barrier, but feels much shorter.

Overall, if you're a fan of the series you would be foolish not to pick this up.

Another heartfelt story that continues the series perfectly. This time our "Mad Scientist" is the one that needs rescuing.

I'll start off by saying, I really like Steins;Gate the series. Between it, and Spice and Wolf, it's hard to say which is my favorite. With that said I was both excited and a bit nervous to see if it added to my love of the series or diminished it. Thankfully it was a nice, albeit breif addition.

The movie picks up essentially where the series left off with only Okabe really fully knowing all the events that transpired from the past. All of these memories confuse Okabe and start to drive him mad. Kurisu comes back from America to visit the lab and everyone as Okabe's struggles reach their climax. She then finds herself on the reverse end, from series, needing to save Okabe.

All the major characters show up from the series but the focus is on Kurisu and Okabe as it should be. It was interesting to explore the aftermath of the events of the series and how they affect Okabe as the only one who can recall them. I'm probably rating the movie a bit higher than I would have if I had not loved the series as much as I do. Compared to the series it did feel like there was quite enough time to fully explore some of the new ideas and question brought up. Andthe resolution felt bit rushef. However having said that I'm not sure if there would have been enough content to create a whole new 3rd season with out it feeling like a rehash of the original 2. Overall I did enjoy it and feel it added enough to make it worth telling without detracting from the original.

I enjoyed watching season 1 of Steins Gate a lot, so of course I had to watch this movie. Compare to the series, I would say that this movie more personal between the characters, and it's nice to have this movie focus on Kurisu.

First of all, this movie would not mean much to someone who either never saw the anime or the Visual Novel, both known as "Steins;Gate." In fact, it spoils some major plot points if you're not familiar with S;G, so don't watch this until you've finished the anime!

As for the movie, it is absolutely amazing! Although it's been something like 3 years since this movie came out in Japan, waiting solely for the original English cast was so worth it! As soon as I saw the pre-order on Amazon back in early February, I bought it, and it was delivered the day it was released, which was awesome. The English cast did a phenomenal job in the anime, and the movie is just as good.
The movie is a continuation and conclusion for the Steins;Gate story, and although it was somewhat not needed to fulfill what the first anime did, the extra drama and resolution makes the whole Steins;Gate ending the best ending to an anime story that I've ever seen.
Now, the only thing left in the S;G franchise is Zero, which is a Visual Novel already out for PS4 with English subtitles, and it's a canonical spin off to the main story. The S;G 0 anime has been greenlit and is supposedly in production, so can't wait for that!
In conclusion, anyone and everyone who loved the original series would totally be missing out if they didn't get this amazing release!

This is a fabulous and very well done series, and the movie is no exception. It can be watched in Japanese with English subtitles, or with the English dub. The English voice actors are phenomenal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funimation did a great job at dubbing

It's got three audio options: the original Japanese one, English dub and a comentary by the cast and staffs of the English dub. Has no options for subtitles; subtitles are always on for Japanese voice and you can't turn it off and there's no subtitles for the English dub or the commentary.

I loved the dub of this one, just like I loved the one for the TV series. They had the same English voice actors for this movie as the TV series, so if you liked the dub of the TV series, you're going to enjoy this one for sure. As someone who watched the original Japanese version of both TV series and this movie, I really enjoyed both version: the original and the English dubbed one.

I'm not going to talk a lot about the story of this movie, but if you like the TV series, you'll most likely like this one also. Definietly recommended.
