About the author

Brooklyn-based graphic designer Ed Roth founded Stencil1 in 2004. Many, including Martha Stewart, The New York Times, ReadyMade, and Country Living, have praised his iconic, reusable stencils. Stencil1 stencils can be used to paint walls, T-shirts, furniture--anything you want! In 2008, Chronicle Books released Ed Roth's first book, Stencil 101- Make Your Mark with 25 Reusable Stencils and Step-by-Step Instructions. A second book, Stencil 101 Décor, which focuses on decorative use, contains ten oversized repeat pattern stencils for walls, furniture, floors, and more. The most recent release is Stencil Style 101 in which Ed shows you how to use a stencil to embellish clothing and accessories using techniques such as painting, embroidery, applique, and more. All books contain pre-cut stencils. To see his entire collection of stencil designs, watch how-to videos, and comment on the blog, please visit: Stencil1.com

I liked the ideas that the book provided, as well as the stencils I would not have to take the time to create.
The downside to this book is that the stencils are very flimsy and fall apart after minimal use. After using one of them on only one small project I had to throw it out.
The upside is that it does provide ideas for easy to make dyi projects.
