Rotating Steering WheelJust imagine the fantasy scenarios your kids will enjoy at the helm of a turnable steering wheel. The captain of a pirate ship? An astronaut flying into space? Or the driver of a floating castle, perhaps? |
Safety FeaturesKiddos will safely make their way into the playhouse by climbing a ladder with non-slip steps and grabbing a set of sturdy hand rails for booboo-free entries. |
Lots of WindowsNo claustrophobia here. Kids will enjoy plenty of light and sky views with multiple lookout windows and a skylight that takes pretend play to a whole new level! |
Roomy Crawl-Thru TunnelKids will find the roomy crawl-thru tunnel underneath is the perfect getaway for hiding and playing, with many exit strategies through which to escape! |
Why Play with Climber Toys?

|
|
|---|---|---|---|
Physical + Motor SkillsClimbing activates both upper and lower body strength, and helps build fine motor skills with the gripping motion. Plus, the excitement of being outside and running around a playset does a kid’s body good! |
Critical ThinkingWith each movement, kids have to evaluate where they are and where they should reach or step next. And, each climbing “route” is a new challenge kids need to overcome. |
Language + Social SkillsClimbers are great for many kids to play together with the open design. When kids play together, they communicate with each other as they take turns. They also learn critical skills like patience and sharing, and new words like “step”, “climb”, and “slide”. |
Creativity + Role PlayGetting outside to play breaks their usual routine, allowing them to open their imaginations. Playing together helps kids to work out storylines and learn to improvise based on what someone does or says. |
Play Together!
- Pretend Play: What will your climber be today? From pirate ship, to airplane, cruise ship, and more, there’s so many ways to get creative! Start the conversation with your little one, and build on their story as they climb, slide, and steer in their make-believe world.
- Make sharing the clean-up responsibilities fun with your little one. Putting yard toys away in the storage area when playtime is over will help foster good habits, show an example of teamwork, and a bonus in motor skill development!

Product Description
Kids will enjoy hours of outdoor fun and adventure with the elaborate Clubhouse Climber by Step2. Chock-full of features and details, it will continue to surprise and delight your little ones for years to come! First, they’ll climb up the stairs using the sure-grip rails and find themselves in the upper-level clubhouse where they can twirl the steering wheel, look out of two windows, gaze up through the skylight, or exit via the sliding board. Or they may decide to stroll across the gated crossbridge instead, taking in the view before getting to the lookout tower where they can again peek out through two windows or slide right out. For the more impish ones, they’ll find themselves creeping and crawling through the lower-level tunnels for a giggly game of peekaboo or hide-and-seek. The choices are many, the excitement never ending! Made in the U.S.A. with some imported parts. Adult assembly required.

Shipping: The shipment was delivered by a large delivery truck similar to FedEx. The guys called 15 mins before arriving which was fine but was told the night before half hour. The boxes were barely staying together and had multiple large openings and tears. They couldn't even pick up the boxes bc they weren't staying together. They kinda dropped it off the truck and slid it into my garage.
Assembly: I put together the playset by myself. It's not easy so I would recommend finding a friend. It took 2 hours to complete. The directions aren't super clear so double check with the Amazon pictures of how it should look. I used a screwdriver to start most screws and finished with a screwgun. If I didn't use the screwgun my arms would have given out. When installing the bridge don't tighten the bolts fully as you may need to adjust when the walkway goes in. You will need a ratchet with a 1/2" socket and extender besides the screw driver and screwgun. It comes with the Allen key needed.
I only received one damaged item (skylight). It's not a big deal as it's really just a window and can be installed easily once I receive the replacement. I emailed step2 this morning with all the details of my order and a few hours later received an email saying they will send a replacement part. Much easier than waiting on hold with 13 people ahead of me.
The steering wheel turns. You have to properly install it for it to work. The cap that holds the steering wheel is what the screws hold down. Do not put the screws into the steering wheel or it won't turn.
Kids: I have two little ones, both are under 3 but are big for their ages. They like it and it's a good size for them. They do have room to grow with the playset. This playset doesn't have tall platforms like others we looked at (was worried about kids falling off) but it's large enough for three kids to play on it at once.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I'm not happy that there wasn't anything between this $600+ playset and a $200 small playset. I like that it's not high off the ground and the bridge has high railings. The slides aren't tall so the kids don't really get a great ride down them but that's not an issue for me. The weight of this playset is good and not worried about it turning over. I can move it to mow but it's not super easy to move that a child can do it. I gave 5 stars because step2 responded to my email about the damaged part right away and it's a solid playset.
UPDATE: it’s been 3 years and I wanted to give a follow up. The play set still looks like it did the first day we got it. The color has not faded and no issues at all. All the metal components are rust free and my kids who are now 4 and 5 still like to play on it even when they also have a full size swing set with a bridge and two massive slides. I usually just hose it down to clean out insets or pollen and let it dry in the sun.
We def got our money worth with this play set!

It was delivered in 2 large boxes right to our backyard in a regular delivery truck (not on a flatbed truck like one reviewer said).
