We were looking for a toddler playset/slid combo but there is either the small/cheap ones or this expensive big one. Well Amazon had it for the best price even when step2 had it on sale for Easter bc Amazon had free shipping. It took a little over two weeks to arrive at a time I was able to pick.
Shipping: The shipment was delivered by a large delivery truck similar to FedEx. The guys called 15 mins before arriving which was fine but was told the night before half hour. The boxes were barely staying together and had multiple large openings and tears. They couldn't even pick up the boxes bc they weren't staying together. They kinda dropped it off the truck and slid it into my garage.
Assembly: I put together the playset by myself. It's not easy so I would recommend finding a friend. It took 2 hours to complete. The directions aren't super clear so double check with the Amazon pictures of how it should look. I used a screwdriver to start most screws and finished with a screwgun. If I didn't use the screwgun my arms would have given out. When installing the bridge don't tighten the bolts fully as you may need to adjust when the walkway goes in. You will need a ratchet with a 1/2" socket and extender besides the screw driver and screwgun. It comes with the Allen key needed.
I only received one damaged item (skylight). It's not a big deal as it's really just a window and can be installed easily once I receive the replacement. I emailed step2 this morning with all the details of my order and a few hours later received an email saying they will send a replacement part. Much easier than waiting on hold with 13 people ahead of me.
The steering wheel turns. You have to properly install it for it to work. The cap that holds the steering wheel is what the screws hold down. Do not put the screws into the steering wheel or it won't turn.
Kids: I have two little ones, both are under 3 but are big for their ages. They like it and it's a good size for them. They do have room to grow with the playset. This playset doesn't have tall platforms like others we looked at (was worried about kids falling off) but it's large enough for three kids to play on it at once.
Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I'm not happy that there wasn't anything between this $600+ playset and a $200 small playset. I like that it's not high off the ground and the bridge has high railings. The slides aren't tall so the kids don't really get a great ride down them but that's not an issue for me. The weight of this playset is good and not worried about it turning over. I can move it to mow but it's not super easy to move that a child can do it. I gave 5 stars because step2 responded to my email about the damaged part right away and it's a solid playset.
UPDATE: it’s been 3 years and I wanted to give a follow up. The play set still looks like it did the first day we got it. The color has not faded and no issues at all. All the metal components are rust free and my kids who are now 4 and 5 still like to play on it even when they also have a full size swing set with a bridge and two massive slides. I usually just hose it down to clean out insets or pollen and let it dry in the sun.
We def got our money worth with this play set!

Excellent play set for kids!!! It took about 3 hours to assemble, the instructions were very vague, but the pictures helped. The play set is well constructed, both my wife and I were on it with our daughter (not at the same time) and there were no issues. You will definately need to have a power drill handy, the screw locations are marked, but are not pre-drilled. Our daughter is an average sized 2 year old and she can barely see over the middle bridge area, so this set should last for at least 2-3 years for her.By LD on April 15, 2017

Okay yall so here’s the deal. This is a great play set. My toddlers absolutely love it. But just know if you’re married and you try to put this together with your spouse or any other type of SO or family or friend just be prepared for your relationship to be tested. The instructions are not great and the pictures are hard to see. It says you only need a screwdriver to put it together but you definitely need a power drill and a ratchet wrench. It took us about 5.5 hours to assemble over two days. I think you’re going to find these issues with putting together most things so I’m still giving it 4 out of 5 stars just because it’s great once finished. I’ll be off now to try and salvage my marriage from this building fiasco. XOXO Playground engineer (I have self titled myself with this after my experience and plan to print out a certificate)

This is perfect for my 2 1/2 year old. For the first two weeks he cried every time it was time to get back inside. He would wake up saying "playground mommy?". I love it because it is not too high that I would feel worried about him falling out of. We did put rubber mulch under it to help with that.
