Although the instructions are very easy to read I was bothered by the fact that the instructions left out where the long and short screws go. I'm not saying it wasn't a breeze to put together but I had to remove the four long screws from the top of the desk when I realised they should have been used for the legs.
I also think the clip that holds the paper onto the whiteboard could be a little stronger. I don't know if it's just the one I have and it won't be a problem when my son is older. But right now he's a very energetic artist and he tends to pull the paper out of the clip when he's drawing.
Other than that my son absolutely loves it and I think it will be great for him for a very long time.
He likes to stand and use the easel as well as sit and use the desk. I will say that my nephew is very big for his age. (he is about the size of an average 4year old boy) and this is a great size for him. I would say 3-4 is a good starting age and i'm sure he will be able to use this for a few years.
It's very sturdy and all fo the bins are a thick plastic.
Our son is big/tall for his age, and I can see him easily using this for a few more years (I'm 5'4", and it's perfect for me if I'm sitting on the floor and it's in the desk position, just for reference). Our son loves it, draws, colors and paints to his heart's content!
I highly recommend ANYthing from Step 2, this is our second purchase from them. Our first was a tall toy box that we bought several years ago, and it still looks brand new. We are very, very happy with both the toy box and this art desk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ barely any assemble acquired~~~A screw driver is required to assemble this product ***** a drill makes it easier
******************** only problem I found is there really is not space to hold loose papers. unless folded or small to fit in the larger bins at the bottom.********************
