About Stephanie Hammond
Stephanie has just entered her 7th decade and is thrilled because seven is a lucky number for her. She has seven beautiful adult children who have been a source of joy from their infancy. In her life so far, she has undertaken a variety of careers in addition to that of mother and homemaker. She has been a stay-at-home mum, volunteer, Avon lady, receptionist, adult university student, University tutor of English and Geography, a coordinator of a bridging course for women seeking to enter university without completing high school and a town planner.
In her career as a town planner she had her own planning consultancy and worked for several councils and corporate planning consultancies. In these roles, she wrote and researched a variety of topics, and gained skills that now enhance her writing and proofreading activities.
Stephanie retired from full time paid employment in 2011 and still volunteers in her community. She is Treasurer for the Hamilton based Abbeyfield House and is coordinator of the Friends of Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park.
She aims to write or research something every day. She is currently working on three projects: her memoir, the second book in her Last Days series, and a book in conjunction with a friend on getting a hold on life after dieting.
Her writing To Do List has about ten other projects on it and she is excited to think that she’ll be writing for a long, long time to come.
She loves listening to music, gardening, reading and collating stories about the family. She enjoys editing other people’s work and loves her role as a Beta reader.
Golf is an activity she has taken up since retiring and is sorry she didn’t take it up earlier. Hamilton has several lovely golf courses and she belongs to a fun loving group of Nine Hole Ladies at Horsham Downs Golf Course.
