I ordered these to use as a strong bracket to hold a brake light switch that my car does not have. I thought that I may need to use more than one, but after receiving them, one is more than I needed!
My car has a brake pedal position sensor that moves like a pair of volume controls. This sensor sends its two outputs to the computer, which then determines what needs to be done. One of those decisions is whether to turn the brake lights on as well as whether to turn them off.
My BPPS was showing signs of failure when I became aware of the brake lights not turning on even after coming to a complete stop from over 50 mph! With just a few simple parts and a little wiring, the BPPS now does its thing to tell the computer whatever it likes, but the brake lights are now controlled by a new switch that is simple and effective, while still allowing the computer to control the turn signals and running lights.
This little bracket, although not being used as intended for a stepper motor, is quite solidly built! It's made of a single piece of heavy-gauge steel bent to a 90* angle, then small stays are dadoed into each side and welded to it to maintain that angle. This bracket is so over-built, and yet it needs to be when used with high-torque stepper motors, so I can only state that it is very robust in design. It comes with screws, nuts, and washers to be used for its designed purpose of mounting a motor, but I used only half of them to mount a small plastic plate over the large hole so the switch could be installed through a smaller hole in it. It is also completely painted on every surface, including the edges.
For me, the brake lights work every time I step on the brake pedal. I envision the switch turning them on and off, and the bracket quietly remaining perfectly still, just as it should.
