Utterly haunting and tragically beautiful. When a dark romance is done right, it can show the ugliest side to a flawed character and make your heart yearn for their redemption. It should be raw and painful while maintaining the alluring spell of wanting to flip to the next page to read how it will all play out. Bea Paige did this beautifully with her stunning prose and captivating characters. From the first chapter, I could not put this book down and felt immersed in this twisted tale of dominance and submission. A must-read for anyone who loves a bit of dark in their love stories. But take caution. While 'Steps' is the beginning to a love that may give salvation to all these four main characters; to the reader, it will condemn you to a biting nail anticipation of the next installment in this series. But aren't the good ones always like that? - Author Ivy Fox

I can tell you she hit it out of the freakin park!! I was mesmerized the entire time, the story, characters, budding relationships drew you in and wouldn't let you go. I connected with the hurt and darkness the characters exuded. I felt for the pain their bodies felt and their minds endured because of their haunting pasts. The way they handled themselves was sometimes deprave, but so real that you couldn't stop reading. There were times Bea's descriptions of the characters' inner demons made it feel like it was actually a paranormal story, because they were sometimes consumed by them. In reality, we all go through that or know people who have. Bea captured what we as people deal with and have to battle with on a daily basis, some more than others. I cannot express in words how much I loved this story. I think this is one of my top 5 reads of 2018 and that is saying something, with the fabulous RH stories that were already published this year.
I love how feisty Rose is, that she doesn't take crap from the other characters. Yet, she is vulnerable and opens herself up a little bit at a time to try and connect and help the 3 men who are now in her life: Ivan, Anton, and Erik. I thought I was going to like Erik the most, but Ivan totally won me over. His inner turmoil with his past (holy crap those flashbacks hit me right in the feels!!) and how Rose made him feel, was beautiful to read about and I could imagine it perfectly in my head. I just want to hug Erik and Ivan so much, they are so broken but Rose will help them piece themselves together, and they will do the same for her. Anton to me is the total wildcard. You think you know whats coming, but you really don't. Its refreshing to read. The end of this book, the transition to Anton's story in Book 2 is pretty mysterious and sorta ominous and I CANNOT WAIT!!! I wish Bea could be a full-time writer so she could crank out Anton and Erik's stories haha. Unfortunately thats not the case, but I know Book 2 and 3 will be just as epic as Book 1.
I highly highly highly recommend Steps. If you are looking for butterflies and rainbows, I would think twice about this book. There are dark themes, amazingly steamy/tense moments that don't even require the characters to take their clothes off, and angst like you wouldn't believe haha. We get to see some light through the darkness, some sweet moments, but know that this story is going to knock you in the stomach, make you stop and think because of the depth of the characters and their back story, and make you fall in love with characters with more flaws than most. Favorite series of Bea's by far. I think she has found her niche writing these darker themed books. She can really channel those feelings and interactions that are paramount in these types of books. Well done, Bea! I hope others take a chance on this book and see how much work you put into it and fall for Rose and her men as much as I did ❤️
When I first met Rose I had her pegged as a certain type of woman. Being an ex-ballerina I expected her to be poised, gracefully, and honestly docile. When I noted the BDSM hints I felt I knew exactly where the story was going with the meek ballerina stereotype and was intrigued on how the aspect of a reverse harem was going to play into the story. Then I really got to know Rose. She is more than an ex-ballerina and she doesn't fall into your normal stereotypes. Yes she is gracefully and she is poised, but she is also brash, resilient, and one hell of a fighter. She will not bow down to anyone just because they think they know who she is and what she is all about. She is feisty. Playful. Powerful. As each of her layers are peeled back throughout the story you discover who Rose truly is and you can't help but stare in awe at the dark beauty that lies beneath.
With the nods to Rose's past and the type of man Ivan is I felt I knew where their relationship was going. Then I was bitch slapped with the realization that Rose is so much more than that. I was squealing from excitement at the revelation as to where her relationships with all three men were going. For real, just ask my roommate because I then tracked her down so that I could gush about this revelation. It's so different from other BDSM books I've read and was just what I needed when I didn't realize I needed it.
This book focuses more on her relationship with Ivan, but you do get to see the blossoming relationships she has with Anton and Erik. She needs Anton and Erik just as much as she needs Ivan. They each give her something that her soul needs and craves. I'm practically on the edge of my seat to see where her relationships with the other two will go, especially after that epilogue. That epilogue was just cruel, but I loved every cruel moment of it. I cannot wait to see just how dark and gritty Bea gets with the next books in the Finding Their Muse series.
"Bea Paige does dark better than Batman" get it? Cause he is the Dark Knight...? No? Okay... Moving on. LOL.
Bea Paige does a fabulous job of bringing the characters to life and creating a story that is enticing and smooth. There is never a time where the story feels forced or that it gets dull. I can NOT wait to get the next book!

This book focuses on Ivan and Rose, and was told with alternating POVs from Ivan, Rose and Anton.
Ivan craves domination, and wallows in the darkness after the death of his wife 2 years earlier, which he blames himself for. He is arrogant, rude, and downright impossible to get along with (other words come to mind to describe him, but I'll try and keep this civil). Rose challenges everything he stands for, and brings back memories he wanted to bury with his wife. He doesn't know what to do with her - whether to push her away so he never sees her again, pull her closer to dominate her, or is there another option?
Rose has been through so much - I don't want to reveal spoilers as I felt her past tragedies were beautifully, if heartbreakingly, revealed as the story progressed. What stood out for me was that she wasn't weak! She showed an inner strength that she could be the person she is now having gone through such a tragic and painful past. She has dark days, and has some inner thoughts that may lend towards triggering some people, but in general she had a strong and focused outlook on life - she took the bull by the horns and stared it down (quite literally in the case of Ivan!).
Anton and Erik we got to know about too - brothers in every sense but blood, they all live with Ivan and support each other as best they can - which proves hard at times given they're all a bit lost in their own issues.
The end was a little bit of a cliffhanger, hinting at the darkness to come in book 2 with Anton. Ivan was demanding, domineering and aggressive, Erik was violent and had a tendency to lose himself to his PTSD, and yet Anton could just be the most dangerous of them all! The next book will be a very interesting read off the back of this one, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Amazing start to the series - highly recommend, but heed the trigger warnings as there are no sunshine and rainbows - it is dark!
I’m throughly impressed with Bea Paige’s ability to capture raw emotion and despair with Steps. The characters thoughts and emotions leap off the page and right into your heart and soul.
I highly recommend the first book in the Finding Their Muse series, and look forward to the next instalment with Strokes.
Side note: I’m disappointed with myself that I didn’t read Steps as soon as it was released, and delayed taking the plunge into this brilliant series. I definitely won’t be waiting for Strokes.
Have you ever felt like the demons of your past continue to haunt you? Felt like decisions you once made shaped your future? From the first page, Bea Paige is able to captivate you with the story of Ivan, who is tormented by his guilt, and Rose, who refuses to back down from those who seek to destroy her. There is also Anton and Erik, both character who we see play a significant part of this story, but have their own stories to tell as well.
Steps captures the beauty in giving yourself completely to another person. Whilst the characters still have their secrets, we are slowly learning that perhaps all it takes is for one person to understand to truly help you overcome the darkness that tries to drag you under.
