I was looking for a cheap, easy and attractive storage solution for my video games and I found it.

Just so everyone is aware, right on the sticker with the UPC (easily removed from each crate) it says "Holds CD's & DVD's". After reading some of the reviews prior to placing my order, I was a bit concerned that although these little crates (seemingly made to hold "miscellaneous items") might work for my games, that they might also be too slightly odd sized to do the job. Needless to say, I was relieved to find that they were made to the perfect size to specifically hold video games and movies, therefore anyone complaining that they can't store their miscellany with these shouldn't disturb those of us who are looking for more DVD/game shelf space.

I did find the dimensions in the product description to be misleading though. Here are the actual interior dimensions. 6 3/4" wide, 5 3/4" deep and 7 15/16" tall. That holds 11 video games or DVDs or 13 Blu-ray Discs comfortably. The space even holds my PC game boxes.

There are two problems that I had though, with both the order and this product, and there happens to be 1 solution for both problems. First of all, the order total is just shy of qualifying for free shipping and the second problem is that the crates fit together nicely but don't "lock" together so they can be a bit tricky to get into position and stay that way. The solution I found is to order [Velcro Reusable Self-Gripping Ties, 0.5 Inches x 8 Inches, Black/Gray, 50 Ties per Pack - $3.38] which will bring your order to just over $25 (and give you a ton of extra velcro cable ties). Both items qualify for free shipping and the velcro straps can be used strategically and sparingly to lock the crates into place. If you use one or two of them on the middle, they will not show when DVD/Game cases are in the crates nor will they have any adverse effects to storing your items. Alternatively, I found that just one strap holding each of the stacked columns together does the job. Once items are in the crates, everything is held in place.

BUYER BEWARE !!!!

These storage boxes DO NOT WORK WITH PREVIOUS.
What is pictured is NOT what you will receive.
I ordered previous from Amazon.
I ordered again.
These crates / boxes now use a Post interlock instead of a Tab interlock as pictured.
They are COMPLETELY INCOMPATIBLE with the original boxes sold under similar part number. (Tab interlocked)
EVEN WORSE.... the new post interlock method is difficult and annoying to align and utilize.
WORST OF ALL.... the posts break off and mine were delivered with broken posts BEFORE I opened the box. (no shipping damage)
A good design has been destroyed.
Be prepared to replace all your previous boxes with this new DOWNGRADED edition..... OR.... do not order these if you own previous.
You will receive part number 1695LAB86 instead of 16958612.

Great for easy-to-use stackable organization

I first bought some of these crates from Walmart but my local store doesn't seem to carry them anymore. Thankfully Amazon does and free 2-day shipping with Prime is the best.

They are versatile, stackable and I find look very nice in a minimalistic way. I use them to organize my first aid center (OTC medicine, lotions, etc). I like that I can see immediately what is inside the crates and even stacked two-high it's easy to grab the one I need.

I've since then used it to organize train tracks, cars, other small toys and small items in my pantry. Awesome product. So affordable too!

Fit Well in a Medium Size Banker's Box

The twelve mini crates arrived in a sturdy box. When I opened the box the crates were neatly and tightly stacked in the box and showed no damage from their shipping. We have purchased crates, practically identical to these, in the past from various retailers. The material of these new ones seemed slightly less thick than our older ones. I compared their weight and the new ones are about 3/4 of an ounce lighter than the older ones. Three of the twelve have minor — trivial — "melted" plastic defects to small areas of the crates. None of the defects are such that they impair the utility of the crates, but will call for some attention when stacking or coupling them with other crates.
February 2016: In packing for an upcoming move I tried something that others might find useful. I took four of these Sterilite Mini Crates and, using their "clipping" projections, assembled then into a square. I then tried to fit the square of 4 crates into a medium size "Smart Move" Banker's Box. With a bit of care they fit in with a snug fit. A second set of 4 fit on top to form a second layer. I see this as a near-perfect way to store assorted small objects, either for moving or (in Military lingo) "Non-Temporary Storage."

These are great! These are interlocking crates

These are great! These are interlocking crates, so you can stack them and store your things in creative ways. A word to the wise, though--some of the tabs on the crates are a little warped, so not all of them fit together perfectly. What I had to do was plan out beforehand how I wanted to stack them and test which ones fit together and which ones don't. Then, I used zipties so they couldn't become detached from each other.

As you can see in the picture, they're the perfect size for DVDs and for small books.

Perfect for Guided Reading Paperbacks

I just ordered a second set of these crates - they are just perfect for the small paperbacks we use in guided reading groups. They are just the right size for books to stand up with titles visible, and fit like they were custom-made for small bookcases. Students do better with fewer books per box - these hold 20-25 third grade books. Couldn't be happier.

Sturdy baskets great for classroom storage!

I purchased these baskets for use in my music classroom to store the many small music instruments that I have. One thing that I love about these is that they are stackable and fit snugly, which saves me a great deal of space. I like that I don't have to worry about them toppling over. I constantly have students getting items in and out of these baskets, and they have held up wonderfully with daily use since August. I would absolutely buy these again!
