Scar Tail the Platypus
Platypuses were hunted to extinction in South Australia about a hundred years ago. When a platypus escapes from the sanctuary he’s attempting something very dangerous with the odds stacked against him.
Scar Tail is a male Platypus compelled to seek new territory and leaves the predator proof fences of the sanctuary he was born in and tries to survive in the River Onkaparinga where Platypuses have been extinct for a hundred years.
Peter is an autistic boy who has trouble relating to most people, but loves wild places and wild animals. Peter and his only friend, Andrew, save Scar Tail from two Foxes, and observe the recolonization of the valley by wild Platypuses over the next 15 years.
Just as Peter helps Platypuses when he can, the Platypuses provide Peter with the stimulus he needs to fulfill his potential.
A story with accurate, carefully researched facts about Platypuses and other animals.
This is a book about Platypuses and other animals. The animals act like animals, not like people or toys.
This is a fictional account of the recolonization of the Onkaparinga Valley in South Australia by Platypuses; a process that has already started in reality.
This story was intended for older children and young adults, but I hope adults will also enjoy it and learn a bit about a very unusual animal.

Those who love the small aquarium Corydoras catfish can learn a lot from this book.
As well as important general information on keeping and breeding, this book has descriptions of over 170 named valid species of Corydoras, and their near relatives in the Aspidoras, Brochis and Scleromystax genera, as well as ones known by their C or CW numbers, including the laser catfish.
A total of over 200 distinct armoured catfish from the subfamily Corydoradinae are described in this book.
Illustrated with over 450 pictures.
This book should appeal to those who want to know more about these beautiful fish, both beginners and the more advanced.
For scientifically inclined aquarists, this book describes the possible future revision of the subfamily Corydoradinae, splitting up the Corydoras genus and near relatives into nine different genera, resurrecting several disused genus names.
It also explains through examples Müllerian mimicry among the Corydoras.

Dreamboat
A submarine and torpedo tracks are reported.
The Queen Beatrice cruise ship with over four thousand American passengers explodes!
People are dying!
Captain Erik of the nearby Peter the Great is faced with a fateful decision. Should he ignore the owner’s orders and stop his cruise ship with her thousands of passengers, expecting a torpedo at any minute; or should he leave thousands to drown and race for the distant safety of Sydney Harbour?
Warships speed from Sydney and Auckland to the aid of the stricken cruise ship, but it will be hours before they can arrive.
The US President orders the carrier battle group led by the USS Abraham Lincoln on a mad dash across the wide Pacific Ocean to succour the thousands of Americans at risk.
Danger, adventure and love in a deteriorating world economy.
Cora del la Cruz, an innocent, beautiful, desirable and highly intelligent Filipina counts herself lucky to be employed as a cleaner on the mighty cruise ship, Peter the Great. The work is boring and repetitive and she has to cater for the whims of the passengers, but she can help pay off her father’s crippling debt. At twenty-two she has never had a serious boyfriend but reads romantic novels and is ready for love if the perfect man comes along.
Magnus Carter is the perfect man; with charisma written large, a herculean body, a face like Adonis, an IQ greater than Einstein’s, and his heart in the right place. At thirty-two this six foot six tall, blond multi-billionaire philanthropist is Sydney’s most eligible bachelor, a real dreamboat. Magnus has no idea that before the end of the cruise someone will try to kill him, and he will be locked into a life and death struggle with an amoral and implacable enemy.
Glen Ward, an evil twin with his heart in the wrong place, is a diminutive nineteen-year-old bundle of energy and suppressed emotion. Glen was conceived in a ferocious thunderstorm and born dangerously premature from his injured mother’s unconscious body in the back of a wrecked car. His father’s parents’ dead bodies were trapped in the front while emergency crews desperately tried to cut them all free without igniting the spreading pools of spilled fuel.
Baptised in extremis at a few hours old by the despairing paediatrician and given the Last Rites of the Church half an hour later, Glen has never really accepted what species he belongs to. Other people are also not completely convinced that Glen is human.
This is the love triangle that forms on the cruise around New Zealand. One of the men has to miss out and “Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor Hell a fury like a spoiled brat scorned!” Cora and her eventual husband will always be affected by the confused emotions and revenge attempts of the spoiled brat. Can even death free their family from his influence?

A desperate journey
66,000 years ago, the tiny Dolphin Clan is forced off the island that they had discovered and settled by their "friends", the much bigger Shark Clan. After a long and dangerous sea crossing, they reach the island they had seen in the distance, only to discover that it was tiny and had no fresh water.
From the top of a coconut palm, the eleven-year-old Maka sees what he thinks is a larger island in the misty distance. He is unaware that he is the first person in the history of the world to see the continent of Australia.
Is it paradise, or the most dangerous place on Earth, or could it be both? ”
The tiny band, with only two hunters, four women and their children try to survive in Australia with its megafauna intact. Amidst beauty and bounty lurk dangers unknown, like the Giant Roamer, the biggest land reptile since the dinosaurs.
Every tree could contain a Thylacoleo, one of the most dangerous mammalian predators to have ever existed.
The people kill animals for food, not for sport and kill without rancor, respecting their prey as living things like themselves. They also know that every time they venture out from the cave could be their last. These people were humans like ourselves, with the same sort of hopes, loves and fears as us. They have the same propensity to appreciate beauty and each other as we do.

The Hunters
Tasmania’s history is notorious for the way its indigenous people were treated.
Nowadays, Tasmania lacks much of the intolerance of difference common in many places. Andy Brown, a descendent of the First Tasmanians, has experienced some rabid racism, but his numerous friends couldn’t care less about the colour of his skin. He has never been exposed to the type of prejudice that African Americans in some parts of the USA experience every time they go out.
Andy is childishly proud of the section of forest his parents had left him. and they'd put up notices making it clear it was a private animal reserve.
The tiny twelve-year-old is hurt by three hunters as he tries to stop them killing Tasmanian Devils. Andy has been shot in the back and imagines that he is bleeding to death.
The hunters are arrested, but claim diplomatic immunity.
Andy and Inspector Stratford defy the two most powerful men in the country to ensure the bigoted bullies don't get away with running roughshod over the laws of Tasmania.

Dead or Alive?
‘Sergeant! Sergeant!’ The distraught dog handler shouted while he uncovered Andy’s head. He felt his wrist. There was no pulse. The sergeant, followed by the teacher’s aide, stopped in horror at the sight of the partly buried body. The police know he’s dead because doctor confirms it. The only one who believes Andy is still alive is Snowy, the police dog which found him.
Detective Inspector Richardson investigates the tragic death of the eleven-year-old boy. The boy seemed to have been dealt a terrible hand in the Game of Life. He’d lost his parents at two, been neglected by his drug addicted aunt and totally abandoned by her at six.
Everyone is devastated by Andy’s death. Even the depraved and terrified criminal responsible for his death had been sad as he buried the little boy in the forest. Many at the school cried openly and the others felt like crying.
At eleven, the malnourished boy’s luck had finally started to change when he’d fallen into the clutches of a foul paedophile who’d inadvertently fed him a fatal cocktail of drugs. Then the boy’s body disappears from the morgue, in broad daylight!
Andy knows he’s dead.
Andy sheds a few tears for himself as he contemplates the experiences he had been deprived of by his foul, strange and most unnatural murder.
He’d woken up on a slab in the morgue with a painful head wound. Believing he’s a ghost, the confused Andy sets off into the deep woods of the wrong continent on an impossible and dangerous quest to find a fictional character who might be able to look at a ghost without going into hysterics.
What he finds is unexpected.
