Poorly Constructed

This tenderizer was a good idea--worked fairly well--but the welds on the bar that slides over the spikes snapped after only 8-10 uses. Glad I embeded it into my chopping block and not my hand. This thing is junk. Poor, poor craftsmanship.

Essential Item for Outdoor Cooking

I've owned this product for about six years, and find it indispensable for brining and marinading. It's sturdy, easy to use, and cuts the time for penetrating a turkey by 90%. It's a much better method than a knife or fork because the holes are tiny and the needles won't rupture the meat. We have a full review at bbq4dummies.com

Update: After reading a few negative reviews, I'm wondering if this item hasn't been outsourced and is not the same quality as mine--I've had it for 6-8 years and it's totally first rate and a pleasure to use. No one could accuse it of being less than very well built. I guess the test is to try it and see. Amazon gives you a 30 day return policy.

Item not made properly/broken/ NOT PLEASED

I have used the Steven Raichlen Signature Marinade Turbocharger before and I actually wore mine out. So when I found this one on Amazon I was more than excited.... HOWEVER, the new product does not work as effectively as the previously owned item. This one sticks when trying to poke holes in the meat, it gets hung up and doesn't push-down smoothly, the body/handle is very loose and shakes from the needles when using. Plan on trying to return and HOPE that the replacement will be MUCH BETTER!!!

I can say that if you get your hands on one that works effectively and efficiently you will be SO HAPPY... It's makes such a difference when you can tenderize a tougher piece of meat and have it come out so tender!!!

Tried to use this once and was so unimpressed I promptly returned it. Although a great concept, this item is poorly designed and lousy quality. I'm surprised this item is marketed by Steve Raichlen, which is what motivated me to try it.

I have had this tenderizer for years, I received it for a wedding present and my girlfriend has always loved it so I have been looking for one for her or something similar but couldn't find it in any of the stores. Everything now a days has very large needles, this item has "perfect" size and trust me, I do ALOT of cooking for everyone.
I finally found this on AMAZON at the same price I found it for at my wedding 7 years ago. Score, so I bought it for her birthday and know she is very happy as well. Thank you Amazon
