About the Author
Dr. Kurt Perkins DC CCWP has one mission in life; to help families create a culture of More Health, Less Healthcare. As a child, Dr. Kurt was a sick kid stuck in the healthcare system of symptom treatment. He was obese, had chronic strep throat, multiple ear infections, chronic bronchitis, and eczema so bad it would bleed. Looking at his family history, it’s a wonder he lived past age 5. No matter the ailment, there was always a pill to treat it. With a paradigm that pills make you better, he left for undergrad studies with aspirations of being a pharmacist. Dr. Kurt had a crossroads in the biochemistry department at Roberts Wesleyan College. Either the DNA dictated the health of the cell or the environment (petri dish) did. It turns out the environment of the petri dish had more weight into the health or sickness outcomes of the cell. Instead of heading into bio tech research, this new found applied knowledge of epigenetics led Dr. Kurt to attend New York Chiropractic College with the intent of being able to use non-pharmaceutical interventions to affect people’s lives; physically, chemically, and emotionally. After graduating in 2004, he headed for the west coast. A brief stint in California launched him to Colorado at the end of 2005 chasing a girl. The chase was successful. Dr. Kurt got the girl, married his wife Lindsay in 2008 and they have 3 boys. Besides working in his private practice, Dr. Kurt’s Place, he writes, speaks frequently, and is constantly studying to better serve his community. When not working, he's always up for a good movie, a CrossFit workout, or soaking up an audio book or podcast. Leaders can't lead if they've compromised their health.
If you are (or know) a leader with compromised health, then look for and resolve the spiritual, psychological, and physical inconsistencies.
For example, if you believe your body is a God-given vessel or temple, but rob it of rest, defer exercise, and fill it with damaging foods, well...that's a profound inconsistency that leads to poor health, inflammation, and chronic disease. Do you (or someone you know) have real or looming health issues? The book has concrete steps for discovering and resolving the inconsistencies that lead to poor health.
For my final comment, I'll pass on what my friend, two states away, said to me after reading the book: "It should be part of a bible study!" (Though she's religious, and I'm not, I readily understood her sentiment.) She also said she hopes Dr. Perkins adds recipes to the next edition.
