This is an excellent book by a respected preacher and author. Massey identifies problems in the Christian culture and points to preachers as a source of correction. Preachers have a godly responsibility to preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ to a world astray and a church that often veers off course.

Massey writes, "We preach to create a new order, to introduce hearers to God's will for us. We must preach to help people see reality as God wills it for us." For Massey, the correct understanding and interpretation of Scripture provides the source for sermons. There is no substitute for rightly dividing the word of God. He emphasizes the need for preachers to know the whole Bible, too, not only the New Testament. He expects readers to be guided by Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. Preaching ought to lead congregations into an experience with the living God.

The book includes six sermons by Massey. These are excellent sermons.

I had to read this book for a Homelitics class. This book is an excellent read for those that desire to be bold in one witness of the Gospel and for those who desire to be in the ministry.
