Oh, and what a long, strange trip it's been.
Derek Sivers shares a story from the TED stage about a classroom filled with aspiring sculpters.
half the room was encouraged create one perfect piece for the duration of the semester.
The other half was graded not on perfection. But on pure weight. How much mud could they sling in the 12 weeks, measured by the pound. At the end of the semester, 3rd party judges were brought in to grade the student's accomplishments.
Guess who earned the highest grades?
Yup: The group who created prolifically. Seems that just doing is the key to creating greatness.
Ori is THE example of generosity.
He's been freely sharing his journey since his stylus first hit the iPad.
You and I have been his Audience. Curators. Inspiration.
Now, guess what?
Now we get to be consumers.
Ori's first book (of many) just launched a couple hours ago.
And it is, in typical Ori's World fashion, insane(ly) rich and enriching.
Within the pages you'll see your contributions. The names. The insights.
More importantly, you'll see what Creativity to Productivity looks like.
You'll see the Hand of Steven Pressfield reaching through the canvas to shake you from your stupor.
Seeing Ori's 1000 pieces of art should be your inspiration.
Because it's not perfect. (As if "perfect" could ever be applied to art!).
Because it's the DOING. That's his magic.
Yes, he's developed an artists eye.
He's become very good with colors and contrasts.
But rather than sequestering himself away, hiding from the masses until everything is Just Right - he's shared it from the first globby stroke of his pen to the pad.
How cool is that? Really cool.
Ori says he's inspired to work all night by Limitless NZT-48+Restoramones - Powerful Nootropic, Experiential Brain Nutrients - with a Boost of Neurosteroids. And hey, who can argue with Ori?
More to come. I suspect the next 1,000 pieces of Ori Art will expose a whole new side to the man. The myth. The Master.
At one time being an aspiring artist myself, working in light metal mediums, I have a profound respect for anyone who can stay focused long enough to produce a dossier of high quality work, such as Ori has here. This is NO small feat. Reading through this brought me to tears a couple of times as I relived some of the most gratifying moments of my life, creating my art at my kitchen table with two sizes of hand held blow torches, a 200 piece Dremel set, an artist light and only my hands. Remembering how an entire day could pass within what seemed like a few minutes and at the end of it, I was the proud Mama of a new creation that only "Moi'" could have conceived. Looking back I cannot help but wonder why I would have ever stopped... but I did. And this book has given me hope that its not to late to pick it back up.
For that, I am supremely grateful. This is the best $2.99 I have ever spent, so "Thank you, Ori!".
As an aside, I first "met" Ori through a mutual friend when I started my marketing company and Ori was doing his WordPress website training (priceless). And because I seem to be drawn to eccentric and eclectic individuals, I knew that adding Ori to my friends list was a necessity. Like his Art, Ori is a rare find and a "keeper".
Ori's art is amazing. He unfolds the story of his art as he shares the images he has created in his past 1000 days of creating art. And a very engaging story it is! I've been following his art career since the beginning on day one. He actually inspired me to begin sharing a poem every day for 200 days and I made the first 100 into a book that I published last summer. That book would not exist if it weren't for Ori.
I am now on Day 208 of my #CreateEveryDay series, much of it visual art. I graduated from UGA with a BFA in visual art (ceramics) in 1989 and had not done any visual art since then. If it wasn't for Ori, I would not be doing visual art right now at all!
If you are sitting on the fence about purchasing, I encourage you to jump off the fence and buy it now. You'll be glad you did!
As you can see I highly recommend: "From Stick Figures To Picasso.by Ori Bengal"
Ori went from being the awkward kid and getting made fun of while growing up to couch surfing to being an adrenaline junkie and workaholic. Ori has been through it and inspires us all to get past it. His story is great and I am happy to have had this opportunity to purchase his book and to read about his experience to seeing his first image to so, so much more. Get your copy today, I am sure you will not be dissatisfied.
