We first meet Samantha "Sam" Dawson in Book 1 of the Series, and I would definitely recommend you to read it first for the full story and to get to know the characters a bit more. Sam is the owner of the Sticky Cowgirl Bakery which is currently under attack to be bought out.
Samuel Stevenson works for Turner Enterprise, the company that is out to purchase The Sticky Cowgirl. Sam can't hold out much longer to fight for her business or the attraction sees building towards Samuel, but she is not willing to budge on either!.
While I loved the connection between the two characters and the family aspect of the story, the only issue I had was the step-father in the story and the background story that bothered me. There was other things that could have caused friction for the story, and did- and made sense, but when Brandt came into the story but changed his tune, it was hard to believe and I was in the same place as Samuel.
But as for every other character, I can't wait to see more of them! Love the series!
AWESOME READ! I’ve been waiting for The Sticky Cowgirl after reading The Cupcake Cowboy because I knew that Ms. Matthews had something sexy, sensual and down right hot in store for Samantha, a.k.a. Sam and Samuel. Trust me when I say that Ms. Matthews did not disappoint. The Sticky Cowgirl is smart, wickedly sexy, humorous, sensual, intense, and full of passion. Passion for one’s business, passion for one’s desires, and passion for our sexy hero and heroine.
Samantha is an ole’ chip off the block when it comes to stubbornness, which isn’t a bad thing because I love a strong heroine who isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in. I loved her gumption, work ethic, but more importantly, I loved the way she cared about her family, friends and customers. Samantha took the time to learn about the people she was dealing with, which I think in part is what drew Samuel to her. It’s obvious he’s never met a woman like Samantha in his entire life, which is definitely a good thing. :)
Samuel is smart, gorgeous and stuck between a rock and a hard place. Stuck in that he realizes it’s time to make some changes in his life. Torn because his opponent is the only woman whose ever stirred feelings of longing and love in his heart, but he’s not quite sure what to do about it. As the battle between David and Goliath heat up, who will win? Will Sam and Samuel learn to listen to their hearts and compromise when necessary in order to figure out a “win-win” to their problem, or will their pigheadedness cause their Happily Ever After to go up in smoke? Guess you’ll have to read the book to find out.
What I can tell you is that the secondary characters add complexity and intrigue to this sweet, sexy story full of passion and at times unbridled lust. You can’t help but root for the underdog and by the time all is said and done, you’re going to need several sticky buns and a cup of coffee to quench your thirst. The dialogue is fresh and humorous, the setting is descriptive, the camaraderie is warm and inviting and the fight and passion between Sam and Samuel is worth the risk.
Lissa Matthews has created a sweet, sexy story full of robust characters who know how to tease a reader with robust food and humor. The sticky buns made my mouth water and the love blossoming between Samantha and Samuel made my heart sing with joy. The Sticky Cowgirl is a delightful read that will keep you coming back for more. I can’t wait for the next book in the series, The Tattooed Barrista. Two thumbs up for Lissa Matthews’ Lone Star Sweets series and The Sticky Cowgirl.
Rated 5 Ravens and a Recommended Read by AJ!
This is the story of a small business owner who is fighting to save her shop from being replaced with a shiny new high-rise while trying to resist her attraction to the representative for the company building the high-rise.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Samantha & Samuel go from "enemies" to lovers.
Another great read by Lissa Matthews!!
Sam is a successful business man raised to take over his step-father's company, marry a debutante, and produce grandchildren for his mother. The last thing he expected was complication in the form of a baker but Samantha Dawson is determined to keep her shop and will fight tooth and nail for what she believes in. Added to the business complication is his growing feelings for he fiesty cowgirl now he has to choose between doing what's expected or going after what he wants.
Another great read in this series! I adore Samantha she may make sweets but she herself is quite spicy! The tension between Sam and Samantha (the names killed me) is palpable and jumps off the page. This book didn't have quite as much heat as the first one but had more humor for me and I loved seeing the characters from the first book in this one as well. For me this is not a standalone as the start of Sam and Samantha's story happens in book one (The Cupcake Cowboy) so I would recommend you read that one before reading this one but both are worth the read!
