The Temptations: Still Tall, Talented, Tantalizing... Still Here. On the eve of their 50th anniversary, the Temptations are back with their 49th album, appropriately titled Still Here. It's their first since Back To Front, which hit the R&B Top 20 album charts in 2007. Across six decades, the mighty Temptations have thrilled audiences worldwide with classic songs, pinpoint choreography and a lineup of great singers that never fails to deliver. Members of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, winners of Motown first Grammy® Award, one of the greatest groups of all time, the "Tempts" are iconic masters of pop and soul. Still Here continues the Temptations tradition. Infused with old-school harmony and contemporary touches, the album is executive produced by original Temptation Otis Williams, who produced several tracks on the album. Among the highlights:

"Change Has Come" is an energetic tribute to the election of President Barack Obama and a rousing performance by lead singer "Big" Bruce Williamson, who is equally exciting on the nostalgic "Going Back Home." "Hold Me," featuring Terry Weeks, is a beautiful ballad, one of several slow jams on the album, like "Woman," featuring long-time high tenor Ron Tyson, who also simmers on the mid-tempo "Warm Summer Nights." "Swatyismygirlooyeah" is a modern update of the Motown chestnut "My Girl." "Listen Up" is a cautionary tale, a new millennium version of "Ball Of Confusion." "Soul Music" pays homage to great music from "back in the day" - a sound that remains vital today. Same as the Temptations. Still Here.

STILL HERE is an absolutely fantastic CD with a refreshing collection of new songs. The CD demonstrates The Temptations' ability and tradition to record excellent ballads as well as socially conscious and relevant songs using five-part harmony. I congratulate and thank Otis Williams for being the "glue" to hold the concept and tradition together throughout the years despite their rather frequent change in group membership due to a variety of reasons. The Temptations have once again gathered a terrific membership in which fans can look forward to hearing their next new CD and in concert. Each member is wonderfully featured by singing lead in segments of songs.

I have always enjoyed The Temptations songs when their co-leads are featured such as the historic David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks, then Dennis Edwards & Damon Harris/Glen Leonard (with periodic leads by Richard Street), then Ali-Ollie Woodson & Ron Tyson. Often these duo performances included periodic leads by Richard Street, the smooth voice narration (i.e., rapping) of Otis Williams and the deep bass contributions by Melvin Franklin in order to provide full harmony at all levels.

Well once again, the greatness is back!!! The Temptations have returned with their use of three stellar lead singers of Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks and Bruce Williamson while also including the use of Otis Williams' smooth rapping and Joe Herndon's deep bass contributions. When listening to both their new CD "STILL HERE" and their previous one "BACK TO FRONT" of classic cover songs, it's obvious that The Temptations have embraced and are committed to putting out quality music with ol' skool flavor.

The new CD has new songs titled "Listen Up" and "Change Has Come".

I just don't know what to say but this release has been coming for sometime. Each release since Phoenix Rising has been a joy but this is classic stuff and their best since they rose from the ashes of the oldies circuit. Bruce Williamson has been fully integrated now and to hear Otis, Terry, Ron, and Joe with Bruce is amazing. This is their first non covers release since Legacy and it is very appreciated. Still here? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This CD ia an excellent example of "Traditional R&B". I think it's a shame that for whatever reason (lack of record company support, the status quo of R&B radio stations not to play older artists, etc.)this CD is not getting airplay. There are some fabulous songs on this CD,(One Of A Kind Lady, First Kiss, Listen Up, Woman are my favorites).

Also, Kudos to Otis Williams for, no matter who's in the group, keeping that unmistakable Temptations harmony! Great Work, Tempts.

I love "Still Here." Great music, lyrics and vocals by The Tempts. My favorite tune is "Warm Summer Nights," especially on these warm summer nights in 2010. CD credits reveal that eight of the tunes were composed and produced in Birmingham by Shaun Pezant with lyrics from James and Maxine Yearby. These folks have talent! Pezant's keyboards and other Birmingham musicians on the CD help to make it a big winner for The Tempts and R&B fans. I keep replaying the disc. It's all good.

I have been a fan of the Temps since I was a child. I came home from work and my wife said she had something for me. She handed me the CD. I looked at it and said I will listen to it later. I now wish I had opened it right then. This is the best album since Phoenix Rising. This is no slight on the albums between Phoenix and Still Here, this album is just that good.Singing in 5 part harmony never sounded so good.

Considering there is only one original Temptation left, it amazes me how they always sound the same no matter who the new lead vocalist might be. Otis Williams has done a fantastic job keeping the Temptations brand alive.

This is Old Skool here, This is a sad day for me. No one loves the Temptations as much as I do. I have to tell you this is the biggest disappointment i have ever heard coming from the Temptations. They were over singing on a lot of songs, its like they were trying to hard on this one. I still love the Temptations, I just don't love this CD.

Over the decades The Temptations have been one of the cheif "comeback kids" of R&B. Sure there's a lineup change now and again and sometimes these comebacks aren't always as successful as they should be but Otis Williams, last surviving member has tried to keep the group together in some form. Otis Williams has been through the mill with this band and tried to keep the concept going even after the original quintet most people remember petered off. They've adapted themselves to several generations of changes on the R&B/soul front and weren't even frozen out by the hip-hop era because they stayed true to one thing: their vocal harmonies and their attention to excellent taste. This was an album I literally knew nothing about until I saw it on the shelf at the record store and since it was a new album by them and not some nondescript compilation album I just decided to pick it up. All with the idea in the back of my mind it might be......somewhat uneven. I am happy to report it's nothing of the kind in the least bit. Even though I only recognize the names of Otis Williams,Ron Tyson and to a lesser extend Terry Weeks all of the Temptations musical magic is still 100% intact. After a nice piano intro we're treated to "Change Has Come",a wonderful mixture of funk/rock/hip-hop with a consciencious rap by Marquess Johnson, Damon Johnson and Roger Jones ripping guitar solos in and out and a kindly word to all generations of Temptations fans and like minded people to keep up hope in the world and not to let issues like generationalism bring them down. That's one of the things this album excells in:the presense of vital message songs.Read more ›
