Though Martineau has assembled examples of many great contemporary photo based artists, by doing so he's inadvertently opened a photographic "Pandora's Box", leaving the serious reader wanting of other worthy proponents of the genre, particularly conceptual photographers such as Zeke Berman and Karen Savage, among others. If funds can be procured through the Getty, Martineau should attempt an expanded version of this fine, but somewhat limited effort.
