Lily I wasn't fond of at first then she grew on me. I understood her reasoning behind the decisions she made. I felt at times she wasn't living life for her. She lived out of guilt.
I did love this story even if at times Lily and Todd acted like toddlers who needed a nap and maybe a cookie. They loved with every fiber they had. I can't end this review without saying how much I despise Jace I hope he gets mauled by rabid squirrels. I can't wait to start Seth's book. I think ill love him the best.
Still Life, The first book in the Forever Still series was one of my absolute favorite books this year. I did not think this book would be as good as it was.
I was left with negative feelings towards Todd at the end of Still Life and to be honest I did not think he could be redeemed.
Boy, was I wrong.
This book broke my heart. Todd's story is so beautiful. He is so broken and raw.
Lily is living through her own problems.
I adore their chemistry and the way their story came together.
Sawyer and Liz from the first book also make an appearance and there are a whole bunch of twist that had my heart in my throat.
I absolutely adore A.M. Johnsons writing and I highly recommend this book.
This series is truly one of my favorites this year. One of my favorites ever if I'm being honest.
Still Water is the second book in the Forever Still Series. If you haven't read Still Life - you need to pick that one up first since that's where you meet the beautiful Todd at in all of his bearded, tattooed glory. In Still Water, he's still spiraling down from the pain of learning to live a life without Lizzie being a part of it in the way he envisioned. He's moved cities, but he hasn't really ever moved on.
Enter Lily..... she's dealing with her own issues and feelings of guilt and betrayal. She has one goal in mind when she moves to town and that does not include getting involved with a playboy like Todd.
There is an instant connection between the two, but can two broken people piece each other back together or are they only fooling themselves until history repeats itself?
I really, really loved this book. It's well written and flows easily. The supporting characters are amazing ( I can't wait for Seth and Tiffany's story!)
Lily has also been broken. She has experienced serious abandonment, some on purpose and some not. She struggles with insecurity and works hard to feel of value.
Both attempt to resist their attraction but eventually succumb to the chemistry and begin to heal together. Of course, a wrench, which I will keep to myself, is thrown into their story. This plot development only heightens the insecurities of both characters, resulting in the inevitable downfall. Their reconciliation is one for the books! Seth, who book three is about, finally gets Todd to get his head out of his a**, and fight for the life and people he wants.
What I love so much about his series is the group of characters that are flawed but have formed a family amongst themselves. Their relationships all show the healing ability of loving and being loved for who you are. Finally, the one aspect of this author's writing is the integration of music! I have bought a million songs, obviously a hyperbolic statement but still many, while reading. I fee like this woman is my music soulmate. I can't wait to dive into the third book!
