Editorial Reviews

Review

"Michael Phillip Cash's Stillwell is a brilliant read..." - Reader's Favorite

"Stillwell will put ghost story fans in mind of Henry James' Turn of the Screw. Michael Phillip Cash's second novel, like James' classic, is brief, hard hitting and ambiguous... Stillwell is tightly written and suspenseful - a quick page-turner that is just the thing for fireside reading on a rainy autumn night." - Blueink Review

"This story was such a refreshing read after reading so many poorly revised books. The story had a steady flow that gave the reader enough of the day-to-day details without bogging down the progression of the story. I would describe it as a page turner due to the constant suspense that builds throughout the story." - rachel_jacks, onlinebookclub.org

"This guy can write." - D. Blankenship, Hall of Fame Top 50 Reviewer

"Cash makes the pain of a man who lost the love of his life palpable in this supernatural thriller with a genuinely surprising resolution." - Publisher's Weekly
"Michael Phillip Cash's Stillwell is a brilliant read, and a fairly quick one. I finished in less than a day. Granted, I found it difficult to put down. The description makes it seem like it is going to be one of those cheesy '80s horror novels. It's anything but! This is one part psychological thriller and one part paranormal drama. It plays with notions of synchronicity in the connection between Paul's and Hannah's lives, separated by over two centuries, and with alchemical and shamanic work, in learning to accept the Shadow. Things are not always as they first seem and, sometimes, that which you are afraid of need not be feared at all if faced head-on. I loved the historical/archaeological thread woven in, as Paul learns more of Hannah's past. The author concedes at the end that Stillwell and its family are based on a similar true story in the same geographic area. " Reviewed by J. Aislynn d Merricksson for Readers' Favorite

"This book is well suited to those who enjoy watching movies of the thriller genre and who seek a digestible and fast to read novel- the mystery will carry readers all the way to the finish line." - Bianca Schulz

"When the supernatural does begin to intrude, it does so almost unnoticed, building gradually to a combustive conclusion ...The storytelling is clear and precise."Michael Collings, Collingsnotes

"Cash easily draws readers into the story by creating three-dimensional characters who are easy to care about." - Beth Van Houten, Foreword Reviews

"Michael has taken the ghost story to a new level, not only giving us a good scare but also wrapping a message of love beyond the stars. This is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seats reading all night long.So check out this exciting new author. You won't be disappointed" - Patricia, Goodreads Reviewer

"The ending was very unexpected and didn't go where I thought it would. This book was extremely thought-provoking and interesting. I would recommend to anyone looking for an exciting read!!!"  - The Book

"This book was really, really good; I absolutely loved it! It was just the type of book that I enjoy reading - featuring creepy old houses, ancient horror, and multi-layered family relationships. I give this book an A+!" - Mary McGirr, Moonshine and Rosefire Blogspot

"Michael Phillip Cash has done an excellent job of creating layers of emotional turmoil, while still building the thrill of ghosts, buried pasts and undiscovered mysteries. He had the ability to pull me completely into every facet of his tale." - Tome Tender

"I highly recommend this remarkable book to anyone who loves ghost stories and past lives." - Jenny Bynum, Black Word White Pages

"As an avid reader, I am always on the lookout for novels that resonate with me. Not surprising that it is hit and miss as so many elements play a role. Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island pulled at my heart strings from page one and held on for dear life until the story faded to white... Cash captured my heart by sharing a realistic story full of suffering, loss, and memories. He provides a true testament to love and how it surpasses time and death." - Heather

"With strong characters and a twist unexpected in a thriller, this book is an enjoyable beach read." - Beth Van Houten, Foreword Reviews

"I love how the author created such a real character in Paul. His reactions to situations are realistic and even a touch comical. Paul grows as a man, father and husband through the course of the book. There were even times while I was reading, I scolded Paul for certain actions he took. By the end oft he book, I was connected with Paul and didn't want it to end. I wanted more." - N.N. Light, Author of "Princess of the Light"

"Cuddle up with this book with the lights on and prepare for the suspense." - Mary Harris Mc Cloy, Goodreads Reviewer

"If you enjoy thrillers, paranormal, suspense and a bit of love story than you will enjoy "Stillwell". For a haunting you will go! A great read! Mr. Cash, I foresee more fast paced, thrillers in your future. A well written story with engaging characters. A quick read also." - My Book Addiction and More

"It captivated me from the first page! I could not put the book down!" - Marlys, Goodreads Reviewer

"I loved this book! This is what a book should do for a reader! This story has all the paranormal elements that fans of the genre (including myself) love, but it's more than that, it's also a journey, from grief to healing. I've been looking for a long time for a story that would make me feel the way I like to feel when I read a book, and this one did it." - R.I., Goodreads Reviewer

"Overall, Stillwell: A Haunting on Long Island is brilliant read that I could just not put down. This is the second book I have read by Michael Phillip Cash and it is yet again another great ghost story mixed with an emotional love story and history. His style of writing is excellent; the story is great and is an excellent read." - David Savage, What's Good To Do in the UK?

"A horror tale with well-developed characters..." - Kirkus Review

"OMG, I couldn't put this down it was that good. This is not my usual genre but it will be now if they write as well as Michael Phillip Cash. I got lost in the words and only put it down long enough to cook supper. Yep, life gets in the way when it comes to a good book and this is one. It's not too scary but scary enough. This is a must buy if you like mystery, romance and a ghost or two." - Kim, Open Book Society

"A well-constructed story which gripped me from beginning to end." - Patricia Moren, Goodreads Reviewer

"The book is about life, family and most of all true love." - Amanda Robinson, Goodreads Reviewer

"From start to finish this book was great. I could not put it down and the author tied up the end perfectly! If you like a good mystery/thriller you will not be disappointed." - Bonnie Rediske, Reviews that Rock

"The characters are so well written they become friends and family members and you feel for them and with them. I cried more than once reading this book." - Maria Dodd, Goodreads Reviewer

"What a tear jerker, as the depicted characters, father and children, are left to cope with inner demons and grief after the sudden passing of wife/mother to cancer." - Missy Devours Delish Reads

"A favorite part of mine of all of Michael's books is that fact that he weaves past and present together. Allison and her distant relatives together to create a powerful story. I really enjoyed all of the characters, they're diverse and well developed." - Sara Beary, Books and Things Blog

"STILLWELL is an excellently written novel, that has an original take on the "haunted house" genre. The characters are well-developed and engaging, particularly the protagonist, whom I really felt a connection with as a reader" - Jonathon Urban, Goodreads Reviewer

"I do not see what would stop Michael Phillip Cash's horror masterpiece from becoming a bestseller." - pjtheemt.blogspot.com

"Once you pick this book up don't expect to put it down until the very end. It is nearly impossible to stop reading this authors prose. I have to say when I read it dinner was late and so was I. I couldn't bear to put it down to go pick my kid up from practice or to start dinner. This is a surprisingly"human" story, and is very well written." - Michelle Lona, Goodreads Reviewer

"Stillwell is a fast paced thriller that will keep you on your toes. The author has a way of pulling you in as if you are there next to the character through his journey. I highly recommend this read to anyone. Even if you aren't into thrillers, you should give this a shot." - Sarah's Book Blog
