I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this. Stinger took the advice of Flowtron and changed the killing grid from squares to long metal posts that reduce clogging significantly.
It's got a switch with two settings - UV / killing grid and then two white LEDs for a lantern effect. In all honesty, the two LEDs aren't really functional other than making it look decorative, but they're fairly bright.
The UV is a black UV light (as opposed to white UV light). It's a 2w replaceable bulb (a plus). While the actual amount of light given off is minimal (because it's a black UV not a white UV) I took it into my office and it lit up everything white / fluorescent based all around the room.
It has a cord that you can plug in to charge it. There is an external LED on the unit that is red when the unit is charging, and changes to green when it is fully charged (another well engineered aspect). However, it can continue to operate plugged in as well.
It is extremely light, much lighter than I anticipated it to be. It has a sturdy metal ring at the top to hang or carry.
There is a removable tray at the bottom of it that slides out - and when it slides out, a switch deactivates the killing grid to prevent accidental touch. Another great engineering plus.
I put it outside to test on my apartment patio, away from the floodlight that shines onto my patio, giving it approximately a 90 degree angle to attract and kill bugs. I don't have a huge bug population in my apartment complex, but I woke up to find about a dozen or two bugs in the tray, and a few left in the killing grid that had stuck. Considering the fact that my patio faces the courtyard, which is lit up by 1 high pressure sodium lamp and a couple quartz halogen floodlights, I would say that I'm duly impressed with it's performance. I am going to a cabin on the lake on vacation in two weeks to do some night fishing, so I'll update this after a chance to use it outside in the true dark night sky.
