One of the looniest pictures to come along in some time! STIR CRAZY teams two of the most brilliantand zany comic performers today: Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. Skip (Wilder) and Harry (Pryor) have both been fired from their jobs, so they take off in their van for California to seek fame and fortune, but somewhere along the way the van conks out and they're broke and...well, they have to eat, right? So they land a gig as singing and dancing woodpeckers to promote a bank opening. When two bank robbers steal their costumes and stick up the bank, guess who gets the blame? Skip and Harry are carted off to the state pen for 125 years. They try to keep their sanity and their lives amidst: a sadistic warden, a hulking mass-murderer and an inter-prison rodeo - all with great hilarity.

Even when they dip into slapstick, they still make it believable because they are so human. And that's what's missing from a lot of today's comedies, humanity. I'm not talking about being nice or mean. Or absurdity. I mean humanity, feeling, these are real characters so you care what happens to them.
Stuff like Spy, Get Hard, Etc I could care less what happens to these characters as they beat the hell out of each other, hate eachother, annoy each other, do super-human stunts and improvise their way in, out and around scenes.
Unfortunately act 3 spends way too much time in a pointless rodeo scene that seems to go on forever. What was the point of that? Honestly the film doesn't even need a plot. The entire point of the film was watch the two actors play off each other. Still it's well worth seeing comedy gold.
