IT IS A F--ING SHAME THAT NO ONE WILL EVER SEE THIS REVIEW. I INVITE ANYONE THAT GETS TO THIS POINT TO HELP ME RAISE AWARENESS FOR ONE OF THE GREATEST POWER-POP BANDS SINCE CHEAP TRICK. i HAVE SEEN THIS BAND LIVE ONLY ONCE, IN A SMALL VENUE IN A SMALL TOWN CALLED COMBINED LOCKS, WISCONSIN. THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE AS A LIVE BAND!THERE IS ONLY ONE REASON WHY THEY DIDN'T BECOME STARS, AND THAT IS THAT THEY HAD IDIOTS FOR MANAGEMENT.

THESE BOYS ARE POSSIBLY THE BEST POWER POP TRIO I HAVE EVER SEEN. THEY ARE YOUNG ENOUGH THAT THEY COULD MAKE A COMEBACK IF THEY HAD ENOUGH SUPPORT. MY BEST AND STRONGEST RECCOMENDATION FOR THEM IS THAT IF I HIT THE LOTTERY TOMMOROW, I WOULD DEVOTE EVERY DOLLAR I HAVE TO ALLOWING THEM TO PURSUE THEIR CRAFT, A CRAFT THAT WOULD BRING THEM TO THE FOREFRONT OF ROCK MUSIC.BANDS THAT ARE POPULAR TODAY SUCH AS "GREEN DAY" WOULD PAY MONEY TO KISS THEIR A_S I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY RESPONSE TO THIS REVIEW. I NEVER GIVE UP ON ANYONE, AND ANY HELP OR SUPPORT YOU COULD GIVE ME WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I bought this CD used at a record store, but if I knew it was going to be this good, I would have gladly paid full price. Andrew Schmidt has a great voice and the bands' sound can be both powerful and melodic. The production on this CD is fantastic. The bass and drums are clear and distinctive, and the guitar playing is tasteful and not flashy. There is a warmth to their sound that I find very appealing, and most of the songs have a good hook. This band should have hit big.

If anybody likes good time rock-n-roll and great guitar riffs, this is a must buy. This band can play the melodic melodies weith the best, but they can also kick up the distortion and rock with the best also. I finally got to see them live at a festival in downtown St. Louis. They stole the show from all the other bands that played that day. Also they have a video that MTV will not play because of too little air time on the radio. If you get a chance help them out and request ONE ANGEL as many times as you can so it can be shown. This is a must buy with any music lover it has a little of everything on it.

STIR is one of the most underrated bands of all time. They are the epitome of straight forward rock-n-roll. I agree with an earlier review that this album should've gone platinum, even multi-platinum. There's only one way a band this good can go unnoticed and that is lack of proper support from their record label. Capitol was sitting on a gem with this and the follow-up disc, Holy Dogs, but they didn't push it the way they should have. They must not have been AWARE (hehe chuckles) of STIR's real potential. If you like rock-n-roll BUY THIS CD and their sophmore release Holy Dogs!

I don't write too many music reveiws though in this case I feel compelled due to this band's relative obscurity in hopes that I can persuade others to check them out. I have been a music lover and collector for decades listening to everything from classical to metal and country to rap. Lately, I've been going through CD bargain bins picking up all kinds of CD's by groups I've never heard of in hopes of finding something different and thankfully I took a chance on this CD by STIR. THESE GUYS BLEW ME AWAY. Obviously they aren't "new" but like I said, I had never heard of them before. What I like the most about this band is their ability to switch between harder rocking electric and slower-paced accoustic sets equally well producing GREAT music every time. The types/genres of music STIR produces is equally impressive as noted in my title. I have noticed other reviewers compare Stir's music to "power pop" but I don't see the connection in my opinion. Similarly are the comparisons to Matchbox 20, though the songwriting is definitely on par with that of the great Rob Thomas.Read more ›

I finally ordered this CD after hearing Stir live on a local radio show. The only song that our local station plays right now is One Angel, but I really liked the whole CD. Definitely worth a listen and a purchase.

I hate to rehash what every other reviewer has said but oh my god are these guys under-rated. THE single greatest thing to happen to music since the Beatles, just without any of the mass popularity. Expect a little bit of AMERICAN classic rock sound mized with semi-country but not so country riffs..it's hard to explain. Songs like "We Belong" "Star" "One Angel" and "Ten Dances" are classics that I'll never stop listening to...truly timeless music that will never go out of style. If you haven't already then do yourself a big favor and buy this.
