What you read is what you get with Jenny McCarthy. A fun "across the table sharing a cocktail" writing style that feels comfortable. Truth in advertising? I know Jenny professionally. And look - I gave her a four star review - I'm not a sycophant nor am I a troll assigned to 1 star her to death. Jenny's writing style is really approachable - conversational - and makes for a fun, easy read. Stirring the Pot is like getting sound advice from a friend who has done WAY more than you have - and had a lot more fun! And she's younger - damn... Celebs can become caricatures - cardboard cut outs we either adore or use for target practice. This book makes you feel like you've gotten to know Jenny as a Mom, author, advocate and funny lady - many of the same "hats" we all wear as hard working women. And her advice offers something practical for all of us - good common sense from a mid-western lady who "made it."

This was a gift to someone in a recovery program. She quickly read through & loved the book. It became a very popular book with the counselors and others in the program. I started to read it before mailing it and didn't want to put it down. I thought it was an easy read and made me want to read the next page (my personal requirement for a "good" book). I say Jenny on a talk show promoting her book & I went directly to Amazon and ordered as I thought it would be a gift for my friend and it was.

Love Jenny, love her book! I love her recommendation to run to what you fear. I also had fears of "public speaking" - I now volunteer for every opportunity to speak in front of a crowd. Now I fear it much less than before - I wouldn't sleep for days in the past!

I don’t know what made me pick up this book by Jenny McCarthy. Her name is familiar to me and I’ve seen her on a couple of episodes of Two and a Half Men, but other than that I don’t know anything else about her except what I can find on Google. So again, what made me decide to read this particular book? I think it was the humor hook in the book summary that was finally the deciding factor. As much as I’m a sucker for a good horror novel, I’m just as easily won over by anything that promises a few good laughs.

Well, I certainly had my share of hearty laughs while reading Stirring the Pot, but surprisingly I also felt very inspired after reading this. While addressing serious issues such as single parenting, intoxication meets social media (which definitely goes hand-in-hand for some), when to take the high road, trying anything once, and other such topics, there is always a lot of truth underneath her humor. I found that though I don’t know anything about her, she seems to be someone who knows and understands herself very well, and she shares her experiences without apology in an open and brutally honest way with the reader.

Some of what you can expect in this book:

- Girls Night In
- Five Things You Don’t Want to Hear at a Class Reunion
- If My Bed Could Talk...
- Ten Signs You’re Spending Too Much Time with Your Toddler
- Ten Signs the Guy You’re Dating Might Be Gay
- Date Night Etiquette
- Reverse Psychology

And much, much more!

There’s even an advice piece for men going through “manopause”. That was one of my particular favorites because it made me laugh so hard!

What also made it so easy for me to connect with this book is how much it resembled my own life in certain ways.

I really like Jenny McCarthy and her humor :) I wasn't really sure what this book was about when I ordered it, but wanted an easy read. Lots of little funny parts and scattered information about just life in general. Easy to read and laughed out loud several times. Love this girl.
