Stitch 'n Swap is loaded with 25 fun projects that include a variety of themes. All are meant to be doable in a day. Some are small...some are more involved. There's something for everyone including kids. One of my favorites is the Interchangeable Monster by Linda Hansen. Linda made these really fun little monsters with arms and legs that can be swapped out for different ones. Very clever and creative. Another favorite, and one I just might need to make for myself, is the Tea Cozy by Karen Cunagin. I'm a big tea drinker and my tea is always cold.
In addition to all the projects, lots of tips and advice are included on how to organize a successful swap. How do you get started? Who do you ask to play along? What projects do you use? Everything you might encounter if you're running a swap so you'll have a smooth and fun filled event. This would be a great book for guilds to add to their library too. (springleafstudios.com, 5/5/14)
If you are thinking of organizing a swap with your quilting buddies or fellow bloggers but are not sure how to go about it, look no further. This book, brought to you by the team behind Generation Q Magazine, has lots and lots of tips and suggestions for every kind of swap you can imagine—Secret Santa, Leapfrog Swap, Yankee-style, etc. If you are just looking for small and quick sewing projects, this is also the book for you. In it you will find patterns for a pincushion, a sewing kit, a sewing machine cover, a tea cosy, potholders, placemats, tote bags and much more! (Down Under Quilts Magazine, June 2014)
A team of contributors has worked together to bring you creative projects to sew and swap. You will build new skills and try new materials when you make some of these items. All of them can be easily adapted to your taste, style and skill level. "Sew, Give and Receive" is the motto of the hottest sewing community activity around, and this book will give you ideas for organizing and running your own virtual or in-person swap. (Quilter's Digest, June 2014)
The publisher of Generation Q magazine presents a collection of projects from its pages with a clever twist—all are designed for swapping, in which the members of a group make and exchange the same pattern among themselves. Thus, the projects here are fairly simple and charming, from the Kaleidoscope pincushion pictured on the cover to a Coffee Cup Tool Caddy, which will transform a mug into a sewist’s assistant. A variety of techniques and materials are employed throughout: a diaper clutch using oilcloth, while Parquet Pot Holders include insulation. Several simple small quilts are included as well. The swap conceit really one goes so far—how many quilting groups need multiple diaper clutches?—but all of the ideas here are accessible, well-designed, and clearly explained and illustrated. So long as the person attempting these has some basic knowledge of quilting, this book is a great addition to the home library, with lots of gift ideas to boot. (Publishers Weekly, 4/21/14)

"Stitch ‘n Swap" is about swapping non-traditional sewn items. Some quilted, some not. Some easy, some not. But ALL of them give a whole new perspective about participating in swaps and the projects that are above and beyond swapping quilt squares. I have been involved in a number of swaps, both in our little town’s quilt group as well as online through Facebook groups. Most have been swaps with quilt blocks though I recently participated in one involving making tote bags to swap. Both times, the swaps were fraught with slackers. Jake Finch addresses this issue and her suggestions are spot-on! LOVE this book, LOVE the projects and patterns and LOVE the fact that "Stitch ‘n Swap" goes beyond swapping just quilt blocks.

I really liked the variety of projects presented here, and also how you can slightly change each project to suit different functions (eg diaper clutch into make up clutch). Also I liked the ideas put forward, in how to conduct each swap either in person or online and which tie-ins would work, such as recipe cards with casserole carriers, etc.
Altogether a wonderful resource.

I preordered this book after seeing it mentioned on a website. Typically I like to see sewing and quilting books before I purchase them. I wish that I would have just borrowed this from the library. Some of the projects were cute and look fairly easy to make, but I dont see this being my go to book for quick projects.
