About the Author
Dana Mackenzie has shared her life with many good stock dogs. Her encounter with them began in the mid 80's when she was working on a 11,000 acre cattle ranch in central Texas. Since that time she has has trained and trialed several dogs, many who have earned their Working Trial Championship (WTCH) under her guidance. She is also a very sought after herding trial judge for ASCA, AHBA, CKC, and AKC trials. Quoted from Dana. "Dogs, especially Aussies, have been a big part of my life. I can't even imagine a time without the touch of a soft tongue or cold nose. They have done my work and put up with my nonsense all these years. Each has a special place in my soul. My dog cemetery is just south of my working pens. In the golden, evening time of the day, I often stop by for a visit, letting my eyes rest easy on the markers. Memories flood back, bringing a touch of sadness and yet a warm smile. I think I have been one of the luckiest folks around, to have lived my life in the country surrounded by livestock and dogs, to have had the opportunity to travel and get to know good people from all over the world, and to have had the opportunity to watch many, many fine dogs work stock. Yes, it has been a good run. I wouldn't change a thing."
