Alan Ellman has done a terrific job writing an investing book aimed at students and novice investors. This is a demographic that has been largely ignored by financial writers. I work at a college and students would always stop by my office and say "I am interested in learning about the markets, do you have any books I can borrow or that you recommend?" I have a bookshelf filled with dozens of market related books and I would think for a minute and come up empty in a solid choice on what to give them.
That was until I came across Ellman's "Stock Investing for Students" book. I have used this book in several classes and it is recommended reading for members of our schools Student-Managed Investment Fund. The book covers a wide range of topics in a easy to understand manner. The font is big and the book has plenty of charts which makes it appealing to the students of today. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an introduction into the markets!
