My Stokke baby rail broke. Please be aware before purchasing this high chair, that there are safer (and less-expensive) options out there. I thought I was giving my daughter the best by purchasing a "top-of-the-line" high chair, but I was really putting her in danger.

The flimsy, plastic baby rail which attaches to the seat of the chair via a think clip broke in half when my infant daughter leaned forward in the chair. My daughter then tumbled forward, hitting her head on the table in front of her and getting caught up in the harness. I do not think the baby rail was manufactured with the safety of children in mind, and I want to warn other parents before they make the same mistake.

Despite repeatedly calling and even sending pictures of the defective product, the company has refused to refund my purchase. When I called, the customer service representative mentioned that they have seen this happen on numerous occasions. So, why is this product still on the market?!

My anger regarding my child's fall as a result of this poorly-designed product and Stokke's complete disregard for the safety of the children it sells to has prompted me to write this review and warn others of the danger of the plastic baby rail that accompanies the Stokke high chair.

I've noticed that most of the reviewers seem to be addressing using this for toddlers, but I am having great success with my infant. We selected this chair (in bright orange) for our baby registry (Thanks, Grandma!), and I have just set it up because I'm starting our baby on solid foods. We use the baby rail and the cushions and harness, and it works beautifully! She seems to be quite comfortable, and fits perfectly on the smallest suggested settings for the seat and foot support. The baby rail fits right up under the tabletop, and with a placemat in front of her, there has been very little mess to clean up (so far, but then I'm the one doing the feeding right now). It's so easy to push her away from the table when she's done eating rather than fighting with a tray, and I love having her sitting right at the table with us during meals. I'm very happy with the chair, and even more pleased that I don't have to use one of those ugly plastic things. The tripp-trapp is also lightweight enough that I can easily take her from the dining room into the kitchen where she can watch me while I work. The only thing I would change would be that the harness does have a little difficulty staying up on her shoulders, so I'm going to make a little cincher to keep it in place between her shoulder blades. I bet it fits better on larger children.

We bought the earlier model of this chair (the kinderzeat) for my older son when he was about 18 months and refused to sit in his booster chair anymore. There was a lot of running around the table. When we got the chair he was immediately more comfortable and would actually sit through a meal. He's almost 4 now and I'm just now brave enough to let him pick out a cushion for it. He still likes "his" chair. I'm now shopping for another one for my younger son who is 8 months. I love that it pulls right up to the table and they are a part of your meals. The chair itself is extremely durable and very easy to clean. The only downside is the price - but I justify it by not buying a high chair first. This is the only chair your baby should ever need.

I have a number of friends with kids the same age as mine and my daughter has sat in a number of other high chairs and none are as good as the Tripp Trapp. I like that she is right up at the table instead of separated by a gigantic tray. I think this has helped her learn how to eat and how to behave at the table because she is right there with us and watching us. (I'm not saying that this is going to solve toddler eating behaviors but that by sitting with us from infancy (we started at 5.5 months), she has seen what eating is supposed to look like.) I like that she is sitting up properly and not slouched or reclined like with some chairs. I like that her feet are supported instead of just swinging wildly. I like that this chair scoots rit up to our dinner table and easily fits in and doesn't stand out and scream "I'm an ugly plastic high chair!" like some chairs. I like that this chair doesn't come with a fabric cushion because it would just get filthy. I like that it is easy to clean and doesn't have a bunch of crevasses where food can get trapped. I like that the it is easy to adjust as she grows. I like that it's durable enough that I can keep it for years to come and pull it out for young guests at Thanksgiving instead of searching for a phone book to sit on like I had to do as a kid. I like how my daughter is secured in the chair and can't stand up or twist around or such like she can in our cheap portable clamp-on travel high chair. I like the colors available for the chair and also the baby rail. I like the Tripp Trapp so much I've purchased a second one for our second baby and hope to find some used to keep at Grandma's house once we move back near them in a few months.

These chairs are fabulous though very expensive, but as I use them as well as the children I am not complaining.

Stokke chairs are really wonderful for children as you can adjust them to suit the height of each child, we have three of the cherry-finish chairs. They are well made and come flat-packed which you just screw together with the key provided. The great thing is that the children from one year old can climb into the chairs themselves and it is not long before they can climb down too. So this helps greatly in not having to lift children constantly on and off of chairs, I just push the chairs nearer the table once they are in the chair.

I find the chairs extremely comfortable myself, I am five foot one inch tall, but taller friends also find them comfortable. This means that even when the children grow to adulthood they can still use them. I will just lower the bottom foot rest as I can for myself. If has made a huge difference to the one year old I care for, as he can now sit at the table on a Stokke chair with his two older sisters who are nearly three and four and a half. Being in a chair up at the table the same as them and not in a high chair has made meal times together much more fun for him.

The chairs have a harness which none of them use now as they do not need to, but the one year old did when he was first using the chair. He is now fifteen months old and objects to the harness so we do not use it. You can buy attachments for them for babies which I did, and I used the back support for a few months with the fifteen month old. But the highchair attachment was too small and was not adjustable so part of it I could not use at all. I will review that separately with the highchair attachment.

They are easy to clean and look like new, even the ones I have that are over ten years old. I do recommend them and have nothing bad to say about them as the design of these chairs is great.
