Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Writing this book was an interesting experience, I had never written anything that resembled a book before this one.  It was an eye-opening experience, to say the least. It started as an idea many years ago, but I didn't have the characters or plot to start. Then one day they (the characters) simply came to mind and then the work started. I say work, but for the most part, I found it quite pleasant. I do most of my writing early in the morning before anyone is up and I can let my imagination roam without interruptions. The hardest part was the proofing and editing. It was sometimes such a chore seeing that there were no spelling or grammar mistakes and having to reread the book several times, but not for enjoyment but with a critical eye.

I took the liberty to name Chance after my sadly departed pet and friend that was with us for only 10 years. She was the most intuitive animal I had known and so I took her traits and gave them and then some, to this fictional animal that like my dog was so loyal to me and my family. Writing about Chance brought back, both good and bad memories, but mostly good.

I was surprised at how much I enjoy writing, now that I have experienced it. I hope to continue writing and am already working on my second book that is a follow-up to the adventures of Deputy Felicity Steele and her partner Chance. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did writing them.

About the Author

Rick Alionis was born in Montreal, Quebec and now lives inbeautiful British Columbia. He started to write late in life, but as the saying goes "Better Late Than Never". The thought of writing had beenwith him for quite a while but until recently it was just a thought atthe back of his mind. One day not too long ago, the characters DeputyFelicity Steele and her K-9 partner 'Chance' came to mind and a bookstarted to become a real possibility. The fear of making a fool ofhimself, thinking he could become an author was overcome when hebelieved that he had something to share with his readers. His firstbook, in the series, Stolen Dreams / Silent Echo introduces DeputySteele and Chance.

Rick's favorite saying when asked how he is,is "I woke up on this side of the grass, the rest is good" (anonymous or he might have come up with it himself, he doesn't know).
