Even when I thought I hated you, Essie, I loved you.
I consumed this book in one sitting. Loved every word. Debut novel….all I can say OMG!
Betrayal, heartache, lust, acceptance, love….so many different feelings with this book.
You instantly fall in love with Drayden. With his stubborn mood swing sexy self. The book is like no other I have read. Amazing, beautiful and brilliant. BUT there is not a thing I can tell you because it would spoil it for you…big time. You just have to read it and find out for yourself. Don't worry though you still get a HUGE HEA and I LOVED the epilogue.
With a great cast of original characters, and with the bonus of Stolen Fate being a standalone novel, be sure to check out this spectacular 5-star read.
The story is about Essie and Drayden. Essie is from the other side of the tracks, (no family and moved from one foster home to another while growing up). Essie knows nothing but hustling and decides to try her skills out on Drayden, a rich, handsome playboy. Essie's plan is to blackmail Drayden for 5 million dollars.
The plan backfires and Drayden immediately retaliates by holding Essie captive in his huge mansion home.
Soon events take on a different turn when both discover Essie is pregnant with Drayden's child.
Events kind of snowball from that point forward. I liked Essie because she was a strong and independent heroine. On the other hand Drayden was a possessive, controlling, spoiled and jealous male.
The story moved along very nicely until about 60%. At that point it was a power struggle between Essie and Drayden which I felt went on far too long.
The author did a good job of the ending without leaving us hanging. I'm interested to see what her next book will bring.
