While the basic premise for the book of a child looking for the murderer of their parent(s) or wanting to clear their name with an underling romance theme has been done before, I found the mix of elements [mystery, suspense, and romance] for this book to be an intriguing read.
The book is riddled with secrets each of the characters are keeping from one another. Crystal and Ruby are sisters who have embarked on a life of crime in order to eventually regain the lives they once had, they’re perpetually looking for evidence to accomplish their goal.
My heart almost skipped a beat when Crystal gets thrusted into a blind date with Kade, the detective who is investigating the crimes she has committed with her sister. At the same time Kade is searching for some way to forgive himself for the death of one of his former partners.
Paul, Kade’s new partner is engaged to marry Ruby, Crystal’s sister; how’s that for a coincidence.
Ms. Cooper, in her book, seems to be peeling the various layers of an onion which the storyline contains in the almost vivid history of her characters as she brings them up to the present with the emotions they’ve felt she has given her readers.
The interaction between Crystal and Kade is quite intense at times, without having any real sexual scenes, which I feel wouldn’t have added anything to the storyline; and am grateful for its elimination.
It is for the above I’m giving Stolen Hearts 5 STARS.
>I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors that Rock. I am an independent reviewer. This is the first book in the Hearts series.
>Kade is an investigator hiding from his past. He feels responsible for the death of his partner and early in life, his friend. He is under cover in a new town, trying to help capture a thief targeting a rich businessman and his associates. Kade's new partner, Paul, introduces Kade to Crystal and her sister, Paul's fiancé, Ruby.
>Lies abound in this story. Kade hides the fact he works for the police. Crystal and Ruby hide the fact they are the thieves. Even Paul has a few secrets. I am unsure of the "uncles" and their reasons for caring and training the girls in revenge for, like, their whole lives. The line between good and bad, right and wrong, was very blurry.
>The story was fast paced, fairly believable and funny. Using the flu as a cover for a gunshot wound was pretty funny. I am unsure as to what the rest of the series will be about, but the story is sure to be surprising.
>This book is recommended for an adult audience. This story had some fairly hot, but not scorching, scenes.
I received a copy of the ebook for a honest review of this book.
When I was reading this book, only one word came to my mind- WOW!! And wow it is. It was not what I was expecting, but much better. This book had so much in it- Suspense, Mystery, Romance. Great characters. I could never do what Crystal and Ruby had to do. Could you do that? I loved the spying, breaking into buildings, and looking for the much needed evidence.
Kade was set up on a blind date with Paul's fiancee's sister, Crystal, which reminded me of my one and only blind date with Shawn. Yes, he was a blind date by my friend, Sandy, and her boyfriend, Tim, who is Shawn's friend. We have been together ever since.
I can not wait for Book #2. I gave this book 4 stars because of how I felt when reading the many paragraphs. It was different to me.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

There enemy is a corporate big-wig named Westridge. He will do anything to keep his secret criminal activities a secret. When Crystal and Ruby’s father brings an illegal situation to Westridge’s attention the man promises he’ll take care of it. And he does, but framing Crystal’s father with the crime and sending him to prison. Fortunately, Crystal and Ruby’s ‘uncles’ got him out, but then Westridge went after Crystal & Ruby with the intent to kill. Now they were officially dead, living to revenge and reveal Westridge and his executives for the criminals they are.
To help their goal, Ruby began a romantic liaison with an officer on the police force, Paul, to gather information. And now Crystal is falling for Paul’s friend from Texas, who is working in Westridge’s company. Kade is actually here to investigate the attacks on Westridge, having no clue these fabulous women are the criminals they seek. And he is falling hard for Crystal, even when he sees video that implicates she might be involved in the crimes that he’s there to solve.
This could be classified as Financial Thriller, but this has to be the sexiest financial thriller/ corporate espionage ever written with a wild ending.
