As we only took delivery yesterday there hasn't been much time for evaluation, but we were able to perform this important functional test...
I opened a can of tomato soup which was at room temperature and poured the contents into the pan. I then poured in some milk from the refrigerator, which would have theoretically lowered the aggregate temperature of the contents. I then put the pan on the stove and applied heat. The goal of my experiment was to raise the temperature of milk and tomato soup slurry suitable for consumption.
Over the course of time it appeared that the heat from the flame was raising the temperature in the body of the pan and thence into the liquid inside the pan. On the matter of convection of heat things appeared to be going well.
To get to the next part of the experiment, I had to transfer the warm contents of the pan into a bowl for consumption. I accomplished this by lifting up on the handle that came pre-attached to the pan - and applying some torque which then induced a tilting motion in the pan. The pan’s brilliant "gravity driven" design allows you to transfer hot fluid without the aid of pumps or ladels. As the solid pan tilts, the "freeeboard" of the pan diminishes while the liquid soup of the soup stays centered. Eventually the trapped liquid over-tops the diminishing encasement and freefalls to earth. Luckily I was prepared for this eventuality and had place the soup bowl directly beneath the lip of the pan. Transfer Complete.
The final, and perhaps most critical, portion of the experiment was to consume some of the tomato soup and make an evaluation as to the effectiveness of the product. To that end, I gathered some saltine crackers and a spoon (which I would recommend for conveying hot liquid from a bowl to your mouth), put on an Amazon Prime Movie (Rocket Man, which was excellent) and positioned myself on the couch. As soup spillage can be both painful and annoying, I used a two-pronged safety approach. First, I moved slowly and carefully. After all, I’m no Bourbon Street waiter, eh? Second, I took the prophylactic measure of deploying a dinner plate immediately beneath the soup bowl. The dinner plate acts as a heat sync between the hot bowl and your hands, with the added ability to capture and "dam" any spilled soup. Once in position on the couch I slowly and carefully ladled the soup from the bowl to my mouth, at first pursing my lips and blowing a small amount of air over the potentially hot liquid. To my delight, the soup was warm - but not too warm - and also had a rich creamy consistency which I found to be highly desirable and satisfying. Not only was the soup sufficiently warmed and pleasing to the taste, but I found an odd sense of personal calm and comfort as one might experience as a small child. Perhaps this is the mildly euphoric effect that accompanies the consumption familiar food stuffs from one's childhood - the so called "comfort food" phenomenon.
In conclusion: I cannot say, given the limited scope of this experiment, that the pan is capable of consistently producing an emotionally satisfying or euphoric effect. I do however, feel confident in stating that the pan possesses the requisite material properties to effetely transfer energy from a heat source to the contents of the pan, and is ingeniously designed with a deep convex shape that generally keeps the liquid inside the pan. The attached handle is a big bonus that should keep many-a-hasty chef from grasping the scalding hot pan, and out of the Emergency room.
All-in-all... BRAVO to the makers of this "sauce pan". I'm prepared to give it a very solid B+ and highly recommend it to my Friends and Neighbors
I do wonder if the lid is the 20% glass or if the metal portion is part glass.

Draining is super easy when we're doing pasta so this has now become my husband's favourite. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes hunting for other pieces to make a full set.
This fits the bill perfectly and has a great non stick surface so will be great for porridge.
