I liked this book. It was free and short. What I don't like is that to continue Brian and Lisa's story you have to buy the other two books in the series which are $2.99 each and are around 200 pages. Even though I liked the books, uses the price goes down for the other two books, I will not be getting to finish the story.
I appreciate the free read and purchased the audio to go with it. The story was pretty good. However, I didn't realize it was a serial which I rarely start. I see the underlying reason for the couple's attitudes. She is really broken with her brother's murder. He has to maintain his image with the club even if he treats her differently when they are alone. Still, it was difficult to see her attitude. She has two guys interested and feels lots for each one. Not my kinda read. As well as the lack of self-esteem she seems to be troubled with.
I was a good story. And it these very short novella length stories were priced lower or had more in each one I probably would have continued. Just over 100 words at the price with up to nine books in the series.......
It starts off really, really sad. Our heroine's police officer brother has been killed. They don't get told any details and aren't even able to do an open casket funeral. So she goes home and plans to stay the whole summer to be a support to her mother, then finish her last year of law school in the fall.
Her brother's best friend, and her first love, is her Uncle's stepson. He attended police academy with her brother, but had to leave before graduation. He has joined his father's MC, the Iron Tornadoes, who have links to organized crime and may be responsible for her brother's death.
They have a strong chemistry together, but she can't figure him out. He doesn't attend her brother's funeral or the wake, but he comes by to see her afterwords to be supportive (and to kiss her). He saves her from a scary situation with members of his MC by claiming she is his woman. They make love, then she doesn't see him until time to go back to school.
Obviously, I can't tell you the whole story, it is quite richly written and the characters are well developed. The author made me cry, which just doesn't happen, and made me happy when the heroine had a moment of happiness.
Lots of tension, exploring old and new relationships, good and bad meetings with the MC brothers and Lisa's head is spinning. What on earth is going on?
Olivia Rival has reeled me in with this one! Running to read Cold Burn right now!
When she gets back her brothers best friend and hers Brian comes back to comfort her however he also pulls her on an emotional roller coaster. While Brian is interested in her so is Everest a cop from her brothers team.
Will she choose and will she find out about her brothers killer
