When she gets back her brothers best friend and hers Brian comes back to comfort her however he also pulls her on an emotional roller coaster. While Brian is interested in her so is Everest a cop from her brothers team.
Will she choose and will she find out about her brothers killer
It starts off really, really sad. Our heroine's police officer brother has been killed. They don't get told any details and aren't even able to do an open casket funeral. So she goes home and plans to stay the whole summer to be a support to her mother, then finish her last year of law school in the fall.
Her brother's best friend, and her first love, is her Uncle's stepson. He attended police academy with her brother, but had to leave before graduation. He has joined his father's MC, the Iron Tornadoes, who have links to organized crime and may be responsible for her brother's death.
They have a strong chemistry together, but she can't figure him out. He doesn't attend her brother's funeral or the wake, but he comes by to see her afterwords to be supportive (and to kiss her). He saves her from a scary situation with members of his MC by claiming she is his woman. They make love, then she doesn't see him until time to go back to school.
Obviously, I can't tell you the whole story, it is quite richly written and the characters are well developed. The author made me cry, which just doesn't happen, and made me happy when the heroine had a moment of happiness.
