About the Author

Jenny Hilborne has worked in a variety of fields, including the retail music industry, residential real estate, commercial real estate and finance. She was born in Wiltshire, South West England, and relocated to Southern California in 1997. Madness and Murder is her first novel, a thriller set mostly in San Francisco and the first in the Inspector Mac Jackson series. Her second suspense novel, No Alibi, is also set in San Francisco featuring betrayed spouse, Isabelle Kingsley. Mac Jackson returns in Jenny’s third novel, Hide and Seek, another San Francisco thriller, which takes place over Halloween. Stone Cold, a suspense novel, breaks from the previous settings and takes place in Oxfordshire, England. On the rare occasions Jenny is not writing or working, she catches up with family and friends and enjoys reading, travel, and a good movie – usually a mystery. Format: Paperback
Jenny Hilborne, in this psychological thriller set in the English Cotswolds where secrets can hide and murder is rare, focuses attention quickly on a pitiful widower, a carelessly arrogant executive, a sadomasochistic fiend, and a self-critical amateur sleuth and their families and friends. The plot is clever, the characters believable, the writing is clean and crisp with fun bits of English jargon and descriptions that tempt the senses. Sleuthing about with the corrupt sorts and treacherous types in her novels is fun.

Awesome, fantastic, couldn't put it down book! As soon as I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. It grabs your attention immediately . Great mystery, thrilling, great descriptions and realistic characters. The main female character, Mara, was a woman you just wanted to say, you go girl! I would love to see a squeal of this book. Great book of money, sex, lies and thrills. Can't wait to read another by Jenny Hilborne.

I did receive a copy of this for review but it did not have anything to do with my review.

This is the 4th book I have read from Ms. Hilborne and I was not disappointed. Great story line and I couldn't wait to pick it up again to see what was going to happen next. I do wish she would do sequels to some of her books as the endings leave you thinking of what might happen next. Very intriguing reads!!

A quick read that I finished in two days. Lots of interesting characters that could have been developed a little more but still a good book. A page turner that was a easy read and just enough intrigue to keep you going. The plot was in a area of England I know little about so that was also interesting to me. I think most people will enjoy this as a fun quick read but not a lot of substance, so just regard it as such and enjoy.
My review was in exchange for a free book.

I had a hard time sticking with this one. Usually I finish a book in a few days. This one took much longer. It was all over the place, had a lot of back and forth making it hard to follow. I didn't really care for any of the characters. Im not saying "don't read this." It wasn't awful, so give it a shot. Hopefully you like it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. This is the first book I read by author Jenny Hilborne. STONE COLD is a story about a woman who takes it upon herself to bring justice to a abusive sexual predator. The police missed what was obvious to Mara, murder with a cause. The author developed the character of Mara, Charles Dean, Reid Dalton, Emily, Jay, Rick Merrett, Rebecca Oakes and her husband Trent Oakes, & the mysterious Sadie, in such a way that you always wanted to learn more about who they really were and what was behind their motives for what they did.

Justice is a strange commodity that isn't always served, but Mara was determined to see that it was. It dragged out a little for me in the middle but on the whole it was a good mystery and was glad I got to read it.

I hadn't picked up a psychological thriller in a long time. I am glad I picked this book. I got sucked in right away and hated to have to put the book down to attend to my obligations. I can not wait to read more from Jenny Hillborne. Without spoiling the ending I hope Ms. Hillborne makes a sequel to tidy up what I feel was a loose end but not detrimental to the story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review. That being said, I feel a bit guilty that I am not able to recommend Stone Cold to others. Even though it had a slow, plodding story, I might have been OK with that. I recognize that it takes time to develop a plot and, believe me, I've stuck with rather slow books in the past and been really happy that I did. The problem with this one was that in addition to being painfully slow, it didn't have a single character that I even remotely liked. For me, that combination was just unacceptable. Maybe you'll have better luck with it than I did. But I cannot recommend this book.
